Updates on City Projects Are Topics of Council Meeting

The Jamestown City Council met Monday, March 13, 2017 in their regular monthly session and took action on a number of items in a rather routine meeting.

With all members present except Councilman Bob Bow, the meeting was called to order by Mayor Darlene Monday Davis.  Following the reading of the minutes of the previous session by City Recorder Gail Dishmon, which was approved on a motion by Charles Cooper which was seconded by Vaneesa Matthews with all members present voting for, Mayor Davis opened the floor for grievances from citizens, and there were none.

Mayor Davis then gave her report, stating that there was still some work that needed to be done on the soccer field at the Jamestown Community Park, which  would be done as soon as the weather improved.  She also reported that the sidewalks at the community center complex were also nearing completion and that work was also nearing completion on the Jamestown Municipal Airport upgrades.

Mayor Davis then announced that a pre-bid conference would be held March 22 on the Community Center roof project, and bids would be opened on the project at the City Hall on March 30 at 2:00 p.m.  She also said that bids would be accepted soon on the airport beacon light.

City Engineer Tom Bennett reported that he had been working on the water system improvement project, as well as the environmental permits for the gas line extension on the Wilder Road.

Building Inspector Bob Lane reported that he had received review plans for a new medical facility, and was still working on the codes upgrades.
