Two Injured In Stabbing Incident

Two persons sustained injuries, one serious, in a reported stabbing incident on Friday, January 16.

According to reports, officers from the Jamestown City Police Department and the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department were summoned to Unit #2 in the Ledbetter Trailer Park in Jamestown shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, where they found a man identified as Wade Long, age 24, lying on a couch with stab wounds to his abdomen.

He was transported by ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center where he was treated and then airlifted to an out of town hospital for more specialized treatment.

Witnesses told the investiga-ting officers that Mr. Anthony Cooper, 42, of 125 Crooked Creek Road, Jamestown, a suspect in the incident, had left the scene in a white Chevrolet pickup truck.

Chief Deputy Gary Ledbetter spotted the vehicle on Stewart Street, and Mr. Cooper reported fled on foot and a chase ensure, with Mr. Cooper being apprehended in the Patton Heights area by authorities.

After being taken into custody, Mr. Cooper was transported to the Fentress County Jail, where he was booked on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (2 counts), Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License and Felonious Evading Arrest.

He was lodged in the Fentress County Jail under a $75,000 bond, pending a preliminary hearing in General Sessions Court.
