Two persons were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle traffic accident Monday afternoon on the Jamestown By-Pass.  The accident occurred about 2 p.m. at the intersection of White Oak Road and the By-Pass.  The accident involved a southbound tandem dump truck, owned by Miller Paving Co. and driven by William L. King; and a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Logan K. Vaughn of Pall Mall, which pulled from White Oak Road into the path of the truck.  The truck struck the car on the driver’s side, trapping Mr. Vaughn in the wreckage for a short time before he was extricated from the  vehicle by technicians from the Fentress County Rescue Squad and Ambulance Service.  He was transported to Tennova Healthcare of Jamestown and later airlifted by Lifestar air ambulance to U-T Hospital in Knoxville.  Mr. King was also taken to the local hospital to be checked out for what was believed to be minor injuries.  The Pontiac was demolished in the accident, while the truck only sustained moderate damage.  The accident was investigated by Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Glenn Slaven, assisted at the scene by officers from the Fentress Co. Sheriff’s Department, Rescue Squad, EMA, Ambulance Service, and the Fentress County Volunteer Fire Department.
