Tona Thompson Is Candidate For Jamestown City Council

tona-thompson-img535Tona Thomspon announced this week that she will be a candidate for the office of City Alderman in Jamestown in the November election and issued the following statement:

“Hello, city residents of Jamestown, TN. My name is Tona Thompson and I am publicly announcing my candidacy for the office of city alderman.

I am not a native of Jamestown, TN as I came here in March of 1999 as Postmaster for the Jamestown office.  I started out in the Postal Service in 1981 as a contract cleaner making $2.17 an hour.  Was hired as a rural carrier relief, than as a rural carrier associate.  I then carried rural mail for 15 years and was promoted to supervisor and then station manager.

When the job came up for Jamestown I knew this was my kind of town.  I was only going to stay 5 years, and it’s been 17 years and I’m still here.  This town grows on you.  I know it did me.

I retired as Postmaster in 2015 and have been doing volunteer work.  I’ve been attending all the city meetings for the last 2-3 years and I’ve seen that things need to change.  I’m not lazy and can get the job completed.

I respectfully ask for your vote in the November election.

THANK YOU and God bless America and God bless us all!
