A traffic stop last week resulted in two men being charged with Promotion to Manufacture Methamphetamine after items used to manufacture the illegal product were found in their vehicle.
On Monday, May 20, Deputy Daniel Harding stopped a vehicle for having improper tags, and after running the identification on both the driver and a passenger, he advised the driver, identified as Jeffrey D. Dunford, 40, of 4307 Camry Drive, Cookeville, TN that his license had expired.
Officer Harding then asked for and was given verbal permission to search the vehicle, with the search resulting in the discovery of 1 box of Pseudo ephedrine, a container of Ronosol lighter fuel, 18 AAA batteries, and two AA batteries.  Since all these items are used in the manufacture of methampheta-mine, the driver and a passenger, identified as Robert J. Dishmon, 43, of 521 Pine Street, Jamestown, were both taken into custody and charged with Promotion  to Manufacture Methamphetamine.
Mr. Dunford was also charged with Driving on an Expired License.
In a separate incident the same day, the Sheriff’s office received a call about a subject walking in the road toward Jamestown on the Round Mountain Road, and Deputy Billy Sewell responded and came into contact with Robert M. Rich, 50, of 732 Bear Hollow Road, Jamestown.
Mr. Rich told officer Sewell that he was trying to get to Wal-Mart.
Officer Sewell asked Mr. Rich for some identification and patted him down for officer safety, and found a baggy which contained prescriptions for oxycodone and morphine, and two prescription bottles which were labled correctly and one which had no lable on it which contained 5 oxycodone.  Another bottle contained 8 oxycodone pills wrapped separately, along with unidentified white oval shaped pills and some round yellow pills.
Mr. Rich was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office for booking on the charge of Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance.
