The public is cordially invited to  a special Veterans Day weekend celebration beginning November 11, 2016 to honor all Active Duty and Retired Military.

This is a FREE event open to the public, held in Sgt. York’s restored Big Red Barn at the Sgt. York State Historic Park.

The Patriotic Celebration will begin at 11:00 am CST  on Friday, November 11 with all Veterans in attendance being recognized.

This Year includes 3 full days (Nov 11th – 13th) of WWI Living History with WWI Reenactors on site for Live Re-enactments in the newly constructed WWI Trench.

You can look forward to WWI aircrafts (antique Biplanes and Triplanes) patrolling the air over the site throughout the weekend.  Aviator provided tours are available for audience members free of charge.

Home cooked BBQ, Funnel cakes and donuts on site! We hope you all join us for good old fashioned fellowship and celebration!

Debbie York, Executive Director of the Sgt. York Patriotic Foundation, commented on this year’s special events, stating:

“As you know, we have entered into the Centennial period for WWI so in 2016, 2017 and 2018 Veterans Day at York State Park will be a 3 day Living History event.

We are thrilled to announce that the new WWI Trench system at the Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park is completed and ready for use.  This is the largest WWI replica trench in the southeast!

This year, we are planning a 3 day Living History Event to commemorate the Centennial of WWI.  Our Veterans Day activities will kick off with our traditional Veterans Day Patriotic Ceremony that will be held on 11/11 at 11:00 in the big red barn at the Sgt. York State Historic Park.  This is a wonderful opportunity to honor all of our Military men and women who have sacrificed so much for our great country.
