Senior Bulldogs Undefeated In Regular Season

The Fentress County Senior Bulldogs enter the  2017 football season of the Middle Tennessee Youth Football Conference with high expectations. Their goal was a three step process. First, to win the Eastern division regular season, then to win the Eastern division playoffs, and to finish the season by winning the MTYFC Super Bowl. They accomplished the first step Saturday, September, 23, 2017 at the Dragon Pit. The Bulldogs defeated the White Co. Warriors 35-7. With the win, the Bulldogs finished the regular season undefeated with a record of 7-0 and in first place in the Eastern division.

The Bulldog offense continued to run the ball with great success. They rushed for 242 yards against the Warriors. The Bulldogs rushed for four touchdowns and they also passed for a touchdown. The Bulldogs averaged 250 rushing yards per game in the 2017 regular season and rushed for 23 touchdowns for the season. They also passed for 4 touchdowns for the season. The Bulldogs averaged 28 points per game for the regular season.

The Bulldog defense held the Warriors to 77 rushing yards, 85 passing yards and one touchdown. For the season the Bulldog defense held their opponent to an average of 32 rushing yards a game. The Bulldog defense only gave up 20 points in the regular season. The defense had 5 interceptions for the year, returned 2 for touchdowns and recovered 10 fumbles. The 2017 Senior Bulldog team plays with great pride. They play together as a team. If one Bulldog comes up a little short, another Bulldog is there to cover the play. They encourage one another and have great team spirit. This is a result of total commitment from the players and great coaching from the coaches.

The Bulldogs received the opening kick off and on the sixth play of the drive #22 Tallent scored on a 6 yard run. X-point was good on a pass from #10 Bilbrey to #21 Miller. Bulldogs led 8-0 with 5 minutes 32 seconds to go in the first quarter.

Bulldogs kicked off and the Bulldog defense forced a punt after six plays.

After four plays on the Bulldog drive the first quarter ended with the Bulldogs leading 8-0. On the second play of the second quarter #21 Miller scored on a thirty yard run. Bulldogs led 14-0 with 7 minutes 2 seconds to go in the second quarter.

Bulldogs kicked off and on the Warrior first play of the drive #83 Reagan intercepted the ball for the Bulldogs. On the second play of the Bulldog drive, the Warriors intercepted the ball. The Warriors scored a touchdown on the fourth play of the drive on a pass play of forty five yards. X-point was good. The Bulldogs led 14-7 with 3 minutes 58 seconds to go in the second quarter. The Bulldogs received the kick off and on the seventh play of the drive #5 Leffew scored on a twenty one yard run. X-point was ran in by #22 Tallent. The Bulldogs led 21-7 with1 minute 13 seconds to go in the second quarter.

The Bulldogs kicked off and on the sixth play of the Warrior drive #21 Miller recovered a fumble for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs took a knee on the last play of the second quarter. The Bulldogs led 21-7 at the end of the first half.

Bulldogs kicked off to start the third quarter. The Bulldog defense held the Warriors to a three and out.

The Bulldogs offense started a long time consuming drive on the tenth play of the Bulldog drive #22 Tallent scored on a one yard run. X-point was ran in by #10 Bilbrey. Bulldogs led 28-7 with 50 seconds to go in the third quarter.

Bulldogs kicked off after two plays of the Warrior drive the third quarter ended with the Bulldogs leading 28-7. The Bulldog defense stop the Warriors drive and take over on downs.

On the third play of the Bulldog drive #28 Gunter scored a touchdown on a twenty three yard pass from #5 Leffew. X-point was ran in by #22 Tallent. The Bulldogs led 35-7 with 5 minutes 49 seconds to go in the game.

The Bulldogs kicked off and stopped the Warrior drive after nine plays. On the second play of the Bulldog drive, the Bulldogs took a knee to end the game. Bulldogs won 35-7.
