Senior Bulldogs Transcends Perfect Season with Super Bowl Win

Fentress Co. Senior Bulldogs the 2017 MTYFC Super Bowl Champions.

On Saturday, October 14, 2017, the Fentress County Senior Bulldogs faced off against the Smith County Owls in the Middle Tennessee Youth Football Conference Super Bowl at Upperman High School in Baxter, TN.  Both teams showed up, ready to battle. With bone-jarring hits, zig-zagging and full-force ahead runs, and a mind-blowing bizarre play at the goal line, the Senior Bulldog players and coaches overcame all obstacles during the 2017 season and brought home the Super Bowl win 13-6 to finish with a perfect season.

The Bulldogs received the opening kickoff and the Owl defense stopped the Bulldogs after 4 plays and took over on offense.  The Bulldog defense held the Owl offense to negative net yards and took over on offense. On the fourth play of the second offensive drive for the Bulldogs, #21 Miller ran in a 46 yard touchdown and #5 Leffew ran in the extra point.  The Bulldogs led 7 – 0 with 37 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs kicked off to the Owls and the Bulldog defense stopped them after 7 offensive plays. The Bulldog offense took the ball and on the seventh play of the drive, #21 Miller ran in a 27 yard touchdown.  The Bulldogs led 13 – 0 with 1 minute and 17 seconds left in the first half.

The Bulldogs kicked off and the Owls scored on the fourth play of the drive on a 44 yard touchdown pass as time ran out in the first half.  The Bulldogs still led 13 – 6.

The second half started with the Bulldogs kicking off to the Owls.  The Bulldogs executed a short kick and after some quick, hard-hitting, scrambling, #24 Rachford recovered the ball for the Bulldogs.  The Bulldogs started their 4th offensive drive and pounded the ball to the goal line.  On a bizarre play at the goal line, the Owl defense came away with the ball.

The Owls managed a long time-consuming drive, but the Bulldog defense held strong and stopped the Owls from scoring.  The Bulldog offense took over and with some hard runs, great blocks and experienced management of the clock, used the remaining time to finish the game as the 2017 Middle Tennessee Youth Football Conference Champions.
