The Fentress County Board of Education met in a very brief session on Monday, February 3, 2020, and addressed only four items of business outside of its usual housekeeping.

Upon convening, the Board approved the minutes from its previous session, and acknowledged the Director’s report.

The first item of business was to apply for a $50,000 USDA Rural Business Grant for CTE equipment. Director Jones explained that he had already sought and attained approval from the Fentress County Commission for the grant application, and that the funds would be used to acquire and install more CTE equipment at Clarkrange High School. A motion to approve the application was made by Russ Stephens, then seconded by Bill Cody before being unanimously carried.

The second item of monetary business concerned the purchase of two new school buses which would be paid for primarily with funds from a grant from Volkswagen, along with additional funds to cover the difference. A motion to approve the purchase came from Russ Stephens, and was seconded by Felicia Garrett before being unanimously approved.
