School Board Approves 2015-16 Budget, Accepts Bids For Services and Supplies

The Fentress County Board of Education met in regular monthly session on Monday, August 3 and took action on a number of items of business.

Following the reading and approval of the minutes of the previous session, Director of Schools Mike Jones reported that various hires had been made, and more would be coming once the enrollment was stabilized.

Under New Business, Monetary, the board approved the 2015-16 General Fund School Budget, as well as the Food Service Budget, approved the IDEA Discretionary Statewide Assessment Grant and the IDEA Discretionary Supplemental Funds Grant for 2015-16.

Next, they approved the occupational therapy and physical therapy bids, with  Global Therapy being awrded the OT contract and Therapy Works for the PT contract.

They then accepted the D & D Auto Parts bid for tires, and accepted the bid from American Paper & Twine for paper, along with the bid from Ellison Janitorial Supply for janitorial supplies.

The board then approved revisions in the Separation Practices for Non-Tenured Teachers policy, the Procedure for Granting Tenure Policy, revision of Medication Policy, and revision of Student Assignments Policy.

They also approved four out-of-state trips of the Clarkrange High School JROTC.

After setting the date for the next board meeting for Monday, September 14, the meeting adjourned.
