Fentress County, together with the Children’s Reading Foundation, has declared September 18-24 as READ WITH A CHILD WEEK

The Children’s Reading Foundation and its local partners, The Garden Club & The Chamber of Commerce, are hosting a free reading event for children from birth to age 10 and their parents or caregivers as part of Read With A Child Week.  This event will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, at The Mark Twain Park in downtown Jamestown.  Bring your own blanket and get ready to enjoy story time with your child!

Special guests will read during the event’s story time. Each child will receive a free book and parents and caregivers will go home with helpful reading tips to encourage young readers.

This event is part of other events being held nationwide this week to celebrate The Children’s Reading Foundation’s 20th anniversary and our local efforts to help raise readers and prepare every child for kindergarten by engaging and supporting families, schools and communities.
