BETTY JANE BERTRAM CODY

Betty Jane Bertram Cody, age 76, of Union, OH formerly of Fentress County, passed away January 26, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton.

Mrs. Cody was born November 24, 1935 in Allardt, Tennessee.  She graduated from York Institute in 1954.  She was a member of the Union United Methodist Church, Past President of the Englewood Senior Citizens.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to a lot of people.  She loved to cook and take care of her home and she loved to read a wide variety of books.

Mrs. Cody is survived by husband of 56 years, Cliff Ray Cody; three sons, Mike Cody and wife Cathy of Niceville, FL, John Cody and wife Jackie of Englewood, OH and Terry Cody and wife Darcy of Hamilton, MT; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Smith and husband Les of Dayton, Nova Jarvis and husband Howard of Muncie and Bessie Garrett and husband Delbert of Jamestown; brother, Fount and wife Anna of Murfreesboro; special niece, Annie Yarnall of Dayton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Cody was preceded in death by parents, Beckham and Alma Bertram.

Mrs. Cody’s body was donated to Wright State University for research.  Memorial services to be held at a later date.

 

PAUL F. HEINSS

Paul F. Heinss, age 70, of Ooltewah, TN formerly of Fentress County, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at Memorial Health Care.

Mr. Heinss was born June 30, 1941 in Allardt, Tennessee.  He was an insurance claims adjustor.

Mr. Heinss is survived by wife, Barbara Heinss of Ooltewah, TN; daughter, Melana Martel and husband Iain of Toronto, Canada; brother, Bruno F. Heinss and wife Fran of San Diego, CA; sister, Lela Taubert and husband Reece of Nashville; sister-in-law, Judith Heinss of Mesick, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mr. Heinss was preceded in death by father, Otto F. Heinss; mother, Hattie Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Morris) Heinss; three brothers, Willard F. Heinss, Fritz F. Heinss and Otto F. Heinss Jr.; and six sisters, Eveleyn Sweat, Anna Smith, Orene Smith, Maymie “Judy” Purciful, Josephine Smith and Dixie Smith.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Church of the Nazarene with Bro. Sam Wood and Bro. David Shaw officiating.  Burial followed in the Allardt Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Ed Walker, Allen Tompkins, Roger Bryant, George Norman, Paul Cooper, Chad Cooper, David Shaw, Scott Faulkner and Karl Heinss.

Jennings Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

 

 

DIANA KAY PULLINS JOHNSON

Diana Kay Pullins Johnson, age 53, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Johnson was born October 21, 1958 in Muncie, Indiana.  She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Winningham and husband Randy of Jamestown and Jenny Bertram and fiancé Nathan of Crossville; five grandchildren; father, Bedford Pullins; mother, Jean (Terry) Pullins; father of her children, Ricky Bertram of Jamestown; three brothers, Steve Pullins and David Pullins both of Jamestown and Jessie Pullins of Monticello, KY; four sisters, Vicky Upchurch, Sally Malone and Robin Rich all of Jamestown and Becky Miller of Crossville; and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by sister, Debbie Goney; and grandson, Trever Bertram Carroll.

 Jennings Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

 

 

 

RICHARD E. TURNER

Richard E. Turner, age 57, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Turner was born August 24, 1954 in Muncie. He was a graduate of York Agricultural Institute.  He was a self-employed contractor for over 25 years, until his health forced him to retire. He was an avid fisherman, and loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Turner is survived by mother, Joan (Whittenburg) Turner; daughter, Codye Jeton; three brothers, Mark and Ben Turner both of Muncie, IN and Rory Turner of Gallatin, TN; sister, Michelle Parker of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Estel Turner; brother, Jeffrey Turner; and a half brother, Charles Turner.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Parson Mortuary with Pastor James Upchurch officiating. Burial followed in the Beech Grove Cemetery.

Parson Mortuary of Muncie, Indiana was in charge of services.
