James Dowe Conatser, age 80, of the Helena Community, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Life Care Center of Morgan County.

Mr. Conatser is survived by wife, Corinne Choate Conatser; four sons, Douglas Hugh Conatser and wife Carmen, Michael Keith Conatser and wife Marilyn, Kevin Craig Conatser and wife Gina and Kent David Conatser and wife Tamara; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and brother, Shelby Wayne Conatser.

Mr. Conatser was preceded in death by parents, Osco and Ada Jane Sewell Conatser; and two brothers, Troy Osco Conatser and Doyle Clinton Conatser.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy  Duncan officiating.  Burial followed in the Storie Cemetery.  Active pallbearers included Richard Choate, Randy Choate, Lyle Conatser, Edwin Conatser, Jason Conatser, and Nathaniel Linder.  Honorary pallbearers included Billy Jones and Randell Morgan.

Mundy Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

LINDA MAE (STEPHENS) DALTON

Linda Mae (Stephens) Dalton, age 49, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Dalton was born June 3, 1964 in Jamestown, Tennessee.  She was a store manager.

Mrs. Dalton is survived by two sons, Joshua Adam “Josh” Dalton and Benjamin Shade “Ben” Beaty both of Jamestown; daughter, Rachel Leann Beaty of Jamestown; two step-sons, Ray Dalton and Jeremy Dalton; mother, Beulah (Howard) Stephens of Jamestown; grandson, Isaiah Daniel Dalton of Jamestown; two sisters, Brenda Lee (Howard) Kerr and husband Jack of Richmond, VA and Sandra Jane “Sandy” Stephens of Jamestown; brother, James Michael “Mike” Stephens of Jamestown; fathers of her children, Lanny William Dalton and Daniel Lynne “Shade” Beaty; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by father, James Virgil “Jimmy” Stephens; and step-daughter, Galena Dalton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Chester Rhoad officiating.  Burial followed in the Crockett Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Brian Stephens, Brandon Ray, Jack Kerr, Mike Stephens, Darrion Dalton and Dana Terry.

JAMES OLSON GRIFFITH

James Olson Griffith, age 80, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Signature HealthCARE of Fentress County.

Mr. Griffith was born December 30, 1933 in Scott County, Tennessee.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Griffith is survived by step-daughter, Regina Burchfield and husband Gary of Elgin, TN; step-grandson, Jason Burchfield and wife Sheneka; step-great-grandson, Braden Burchfield all of Helenwood, TN; sister, Patricia  Toney of Rugby, TN; cousin, Michael  Dixon of New Mexico; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Overstreet, Barbara Clowers and husband Willard, Dorleen Loyd and husband Tommy; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by parents, Ray and Leona Dixon Griffith; wife, Joyce Marlene Ellis Griffith; and one brother, Ray (Copper) Griffith, Jr.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jones & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Guy Ainsworth officiating.  Burial followed in the Reed Cemetery.

Jones & Son Funeral Home of Oneida, Tennessee was in charge of services.

SHELBY JEAN LAYNE

Shelby Jean Layne, age 76, of Jamestown, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Layne was born December 29, 1937 in Fentress County, Tennessee.  She was a factory worker.

Mrs. Layne is survived by son, Herbert Clay Pryor; four sisters, Gloria Abbott, Audrey Marie Copeland and husband Kenneth, Linda Sue Cooper and husband Clinton and Deborah Rena Owens; two brothers, Gilbert Steve Brown and wife Carroll and Johnny Dean Brown; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special friends and caregivers, Ella Taylor and Silver Davis.

Mrs. Layne was preceded in death by husband, William Paul Layne; son, Gary Wayne Pryor; father, Walter Gilbert Brown; mother, Lillian Jewell (Asberry) Brown; sister, Wanda Jane Brown; and two brothers, James Walter Brown and Roy Wallace Brown.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 11:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Chester Rhoad and Bro. Daryl Rains officiating.  Burial followed in the Allardt Cemetery.  Pallbearers included  Chad Pryor, Gary Paul Pryor, Corey Pryor, Ryan Pryor, Jamie Pryor and Tyler Huddleston.

EUGENE CARSON TAUBERT

Eugene Carson Taubert, age 83, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Taubert was born April 29, 1930 in Fentress County, Tennessee. He was a faithful member and deacon of Faith Baptist Tabernacle Church and a Mason for than 50 years. He was an auto body repairman for over 30 years. He is credited with founding the Fentress County Gideons.  He was a graduate from Shirley School and York Institute.

Mr. Taubert is survived by wife, Chestene (Ellis) Taubert of Jamestown; son, Roger Taubert and wife Brenda of Jamestown; three daughters, Jeanne Winnard and husband Clay, Karen Maxwell and husband Ervin and Elizabeth Kendrick and husband Eddie all of Cookeville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mr. Taubert was preceded in death by father, Max Taubert; mother, Elizabeth (Chambers) Taubert; five brothers, Hutzell Taubert, James Taubert, Lawrence Taubert, Arthur Taubert and Homer Chambers; and two sisters, Geneva Smith and Mae Range.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, 2014 at Faith Baptist Tabernacle with Bro. Fred Allred and Dr. Paul Martin officiating.  Burial followed in the Fentress Memorial Gardens.  Active pallbearers included Karl Radke, Brian Griffin, Zack Randolph, Brian Taubert, Eddie Kendrick and Clay Winnard.  Honorary pallbearers included Fentress Co. Gideon Camp; John Mark Windle; Deacons of Father Baptist Tabernacle – Jonathan Allred, Mick Bearup, Steve Beaty, Randy Clark, Kendall Huddleston and Russell Smith.

EDWIN LEE UBERNOSKY

Edwin Lee Ubernosky, age 87, formerly of Fentress County, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Conroe, TX.

Mr. Ubernosky was born August 6, 1927.  He served his country with great devotion in the United States Navy and Air Force during World War II and Korea.  He took great pride in his country and was a patriotic man.

Mr. Ubernosky is survived by devoted and living wife of 58 years, Clara Fay Ubernosky; children, John Paul and wife Phyllis, Byron Wayne and  Janet Nikolopoulos; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family of Edwin would like to extend the gratitude to Home Instead Senior Care, especially Sharon, Linda and Wilbert and to Altus Hospice and their angels, JoAnn and Yolanda.
