JOHN “BIG JOHN” ERNEST CONNER

John “Big John” Ernest Conner, age 43, of Cookeville, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Cumberland House Hospice in Crossville, TN.

Mr. Conner was born April 10, 1970 in Americus, Georgia.  Mr. Conner was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church. He was a former workforce development agent for the State of Florida.

Mr. Conner is survived by father, William Sparks Conner, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL; mother, Kathy Diane Choate of Cookeville; fianceé, Gina Knowles of Cookeville; two daughters, Jennifer Gunnoe of Jacksonville, FL and Julia Conner of Cookeville; two sons, John and Winston Conner; all of Waynesboro, GA; brother, William Conner of Cookeville; two maternal grandmothers, Kathleen Ritchie of Jamestown and Mary Choate of Lawrenceville, GA; and paternal grandmother, Sarah Conner of Jacksonville, FL.

Memorial services were held Monday, March 17, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Lowhorn officiating.

Lora Marie (Murphy) Norrod, age 68, of Clarkrange, passed away on Tuesday,  March 4, 2014 at Cumberland Medical Center.

Mrs. Norrod was born February 3, 1946 in Overton County, Tennessee. She was a member of the Midway Freewill Baptist Church and a retired factory worker.  Her greatest joys in life were attending church and cooking for her family and friends.

Mrs. Norrod is survived by daughter, Teresa Ann Swallows and husband Rev. Michael of Clarkrange; grandson, Michael Andrew Swallows of Clarkrange; brother, Damon Murphy and wife Judy of Monterey; sister-in-law, Marilyn Murphy of Monterey; brother-in-law, Roy Farley of Monterey; Teresa’s dad, Beacher Norrod of Clarkrange; as well as a host of other family, dear friends, and her church family.

Mrs. Norrod was preceded in death by father, Robert Murphy; mother, Rinda (Vaughn) Murphy; brother, James Murphy; and four sisters, Ollie Murphy, Willodean Norrod, Norene Essary, and Betty Farley.

Visitation was held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Midway Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services were held, Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the church with Bro. Frank Davis and Bro. Greg Jenkins officiating. Singing was provided by the Jenkins Family. Burial followed in the Midway Cemetery. Active pallbearers included Drew Swallows, Neil Givens, Chris Phillips, Michael Pinson, Mike Key, Jeff Key, and Matthew Murphy. Jamie Murphy served as honorary pallbearer.

Jennings Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

 

LINDA PATTON TINCH

Linda Patton Tinch, age 64, of Sunbright, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 204 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Tinch is survived by four children, Rose Tinch and boyfriend Jacob, Nettie Tinch Ooten, Delta Tinch and boyfriend Brad and Ernie Tinch and girlfriend; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Jones and Lonzena Poe; two brothers, Billy Patton and Jack Patton; and special aunt, Maizell Durham Stephens.

Mrs. Tinch was preceded in death by parents, Ernie and Christine Durham Patton; husband, David Tinch; and two brothers, Frank and Bobby Patton.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. David Webb and Bro. Nathan Beasley officiating.  Burial followed in the Potter Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Wade Long, Billy Ray Hinds, David Rosenbaum, Ryan Patton, William Bradley, Dustin Stedam, Rocky Bertram and Daryn Walker.

Mundy Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

 

RUTH (EASTERLY) WELLS

Ruth (Easterly) Wells, age 80, of Nashville, TN, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 in Nashville.

Mrs. Wells is survived by daughter, Sandy Mattson and husband Jimmy; 2 grandsons;  2 sisters, Ada Williams of Jamestown and Glyna Kilpatrick of Nashville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by husband, Jimmy Wells; parents, Henry and Mattie (Garrett) Easterly; three brothers, Oras, Dennie, and Harold Easterly; and two sisters, Ruie Savage and Atha Duggan.

The family has chosen Donation; no service is planned at this time.

GENE WRIGHT

Gene Wright, age 67, of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Wright is survived by wife, June Bertram Wright; two sons, Freddie Roy Wright and wife Jodi and Gene Wright Jr.; two grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Brown and wife Judy, Dave Brown and wife Patsy, Chick Wright and wife Jo; two sisters, Francis Cooper and husband Homer and Brenda Brown and husband Jeff; and special friend, Ronnie Clark.

Mr. Wright was preceded in death by parents, Roy Wright and Pearl Wright Brown; three brothers, E.J. Wright, J.L. Wright and Junior Brown; and sister, Dorothy Brown.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Tipton officiating.  Burial followed in the Franklin Cemetery with military services conducted at grave side.  Pallbearers included Bobby Brown, Erine Bertram, Mike Bertram, Brian Bertram, Ronnie Clark, Manuel Wright, Camden King, Jeff Hicks and Roger Smith.
