Stephen ArnoldSTEPHEN C. ARNOLD SR.

Stephen C. Arnold Sr., age 89, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, Nashville Campus.

Mr. Arnold was born in Towson, MD.  He enlisted and served the U.S. Army as a military policeman in the European theater during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. After returning home, he married Doris Elizabeth Pearce September 3, 1947.  A career in insurance followed working with Nationwide and the Maryland Auto Insurance Fund.  Mr. Arnold also served as Commodore of the Bush River Yacht Club in 1976 located in Abingdon, MD. Mr. Arnold enjoyed golf, family and friends and cruises with his wife Doris. After living in MD, PA, VA, Mr. & Mrs. Arnold retired to the gulf coast of FL.  With the passing of Doris Arnold, Mr. Arnold relocated to Jamestown, TN to be near his eldest daughter.

Mr. Arnold is survived by children, Stephanie C. Richmond of Jamestown, TN, Stephen C. Arnold Jr. of Havre de Grace, MD and Emily E. Arnold of Richmond, VA; great-grandson, Joseph Wayne Shifflet of Vinton, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by parents, Stuart B. and Margarite (Cockey) Arnold; wife, Doris Arnold; brothers Stuart and Douglass; and granddaughter, Stacy Patsell Shifflet.

The family is fulfilling Mr. Arnold’s wishes of cremation and a memorial service at a later date.

 

WILLIAM ELMORE

William Elmore, age 63, of the Shirley Community, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Elmore is survived by two sisters, Maggie Harris and Edith Guffy; two brothers, Loyd and Robert Elmore; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Elmore was preceded in death by daughter, Angela Brown; parents, Sam and Goldie Elmore; and four brothers, Hershel and James Elmore and two infant brothers.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Chester Rhoad officiating.  Burial followed in the Wright Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Anthony Brown, Nick Walden, Roy Strunk, Rocky Letner, Tom White and Roy R. Strunk.

Mundy Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

 

Lee Francis PicLEE FRANCIS

Lee Francis, age 73, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Francis was born March 21, 1940 in Florida.  He was a mechanic.

Mr. Francis is survived by partner, Trina Goodsell of Pall Mall; four daughters, Elizabeth Wilson and husband Chris of Baxter, Melanie Lambrou and husband Chris of Nashville, Kim Early of Florida and Jolynn Vaughn of Monterey; nine grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Spinelli of Ohio; and nieces, other family and friends.

Mr. Francis was preceded in death by father, Leonard John Francis; and mother, Margaret Francis.

Memorial services were held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Travisville Methodist Church with Bro. Steve Henry officiating.  Interment of Ashes at Travisville Cemetery in Pickett County, Tennessee.

BONNIE GOULD

Bonnie Gould, age 79, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Hartsville Convalescent  Center in Hartsville, Tennessee.

Mrs. Gould is survived by two sons, Mickey Gould and wife Denise and Robert Sailors; daughter, Janell Curry and husband Bruce; brother, Bill Long; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gould was preceded in death by parents, Mack and Darkous Long; and husband, Hiser Gould.

The family had chosen cremation with a memorial service at a later date.

Mundy Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

 

 

Jean Hinds PicJEAN HINDS

Jean Hinds, age 84, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Hinds was born April 20, 1929 in Fentress County, Tennessee.  She was a factory worker.

Mrs. Hinds is survived by two daughters, Mildred Hinds and Nancy Cravens and husband Terry both of Jamestown; and three sisters, Beatrice Reagan of Eaton, IN, Shirley Cooper of Martinsville, IN and Ann Rich of Dickson, TN.

Mrs. Hinds was preceded in death by husband, Juel Hinds; father, Henry Stephens; mother, Verta (Crockett) Stephens; five brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Allred officiating.  Burial followed in the Fentress Memorial Gardens.  Active pallbearers included Terry Cravens, Sheldon Cooper, Mitchell Cooper, Michael Hinds, Tommy Stephens, Jeff Stephens and Harvey Brandenburg.  J.Q. Clark served as honorary pallbearer.

Walter MyersWALTER MYERS

Walter Myers, age 68, of the Armathwaite Community, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Myers is survived by wife, Sherleen Peters Myers; daughter, Melanie Richards and husband Jonathan; two grandchildren; Chesney and Nathan Richards; three sisters, Martha Kaylor and husband Dutch, Mary Pemberton and Susie Mattingly and husband Billy; two brothers, James Myers and wife Bernice and Leon Myers and wife Nell; mother-in-law, Nettie Peters; and a host of special nieces and nephews.

Mr. Myers was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Delta Frogge Myers; five brothers, Edgar, Albert, Sam, Kenneth and Luther Myers; and father-in-law, Charles Peters.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Dunford and Bro. Carlie Garrett officiating.  Burial followed in the Mt. Helen Cemetery.  Active pallbearers included Luther Myers, Eugene Peters, Eddie Tinch, Chris Sewell, Chad Sewell and Adam Sewell.  Honorary pallbearers included Zack Myers, Gabe Myers, Nathan Richards, Jonathan Richards and Ernest Peters.

JOHN RAINS PICJOHN RAINS

John Rains, age 48, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Rains was born September 21, 1964 in Fentress County, Tennessee.  He was a carpenter.

Mr. Rains is survived by father, Jerry Rains of Jamestown; step-mother, Pamela Rains of Jamestown; two daughters, Casey and Kelsie Rains both of Jamestown; grandson, Arlo Rains of Jamestown; brother, Jeff Rains and wife Shelia of Jamestown; step-brother, Andy Garrett and wife Britney of Muncie, IN; and step-sister, Sarah Williams of Palatka, FL.

Mr. Rains was preceded in death by mother, Shirley June (Rich) Rains; and brother, Matthew Rains.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Chester Rhoad officiating.  Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Travis Rains, Jeffrey Rains, Jeff Rains, Dale Wright, Bill Price and Bobby Voiles.
