James E. Akers

James E. Akers, age 82, of Grimsley, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2105 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Akers was born August 3, 1932 in New Albany, Indiana. He was an insurance agent.

Mr. Akers is survived by son, Charlie Akers of Grimsley; daughter, Nila Rizzotto and husband, Guy of Grimsley; grandchildren, Krystal, Eddie and Tasha; great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Kevin and Triniti.

Mr. Akers was preceded in death by father, Harry Raymond Akers; mother, Margaret Pauline (Kidd) Akers; wife, Marilyn Joyce (Estes) Akers and one infant sister.

Graveside services were held Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Trinity, FL with Pastor Bob Zasimovich officiating. Burial followed in Trinity Memorial Gardens.

William Joshua Arms

William Joshua Arms, age 25, of Jamestown, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Arms was born May 9, 1989 in Crossville, TN.

Mr. Arms is survived by mother, Margaret Jane (Frye) Bridges of Jamestown; sister, Casey Cheyenne Bridges; step-sisters, Viola Ann Swindell and Danielle Bridges; and step-brother, Christopher Bridges.

Mr. Arms was preceded in death by father, William Tracy Arms and grandmother, Joan (Bridges) Arms.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Jennings Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charlie Golden officiating. Burial followed in the Crockett Cemetery in the Jamestown. Pallbearers included Tyler Arms, Matthew Warden, Xavier Arms, Cory Frye, Bryan Arms, and Kenneth Miller.

David Ray Campbell, age 57, of the Mt. Helen Community, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Campbell was born February 2, 1957 in Jamestown. He worked for the City of Jamestown, with the street department.

Mr. Campbell is survived by wife, Peggy (Garrett) Campbell of Mt. Helen; two sons, Matthew Campbell and wife, Alyssa of Mt. Helen, and Eric Campbell of Mt. Helen; daughter, Jennifer Westfelt and husband, Richie of Clarkrange; four grandchildren; four brothers, Danny Campbell and wife, Pam of Allardt, Darrell Campbell and wife, Kathy of Crossville, Johnny Campbell and wife, Melanie of Pikeville and Jeffery Campbell and wife, Linda of Allardt; sister, Glenda Crabtree and husband, Larry of Jamestown; sister-in-law, Kathy Jones and husband, William of Scott Co.; brother-in-law, James “Jim” Garrett of Mt. Helen; mother-in-law, Eva Garrett of Mt. Helen; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by father, Condy Campbell; mother, Faye (York) Campbell and father-in-law, James N. Garrett.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Jennings Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Kimbrell and Bro. Randall Kimbrell officiating. Burial followed in the Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery in Scott Co. Pallbearers included Jeffery Campbell, Darrell Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Cody Campbell, Zack Pennycuff, Johnny Campbell, and Eric Campbell. Honorary pallbearers included Andrew Frogge and Adrian Frogge.

Amos Cooper

Amos Cooper, better known as Bud, age 78, of the Bill’s Creek Community, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Cooper is survived by wife, Willie Cooper; daughters, Brenda Hamby and Sally Cooper; son-in-law, Tony Hamby; brothers, Carlos Cooper, Jr. and Jimmy Dale Cooper; sisters, Charlene Copley, Janie Choate, Lorene Crabtree, Carolyn Crabtree, and Barbara Brannon; granddaughters, Toni Young and husband Josh, and Patricia Brewer and husband Daniel; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by parents, Carlos and Rhua Crabtree Cooper; daughter, Sharon Gail Cooper; and brother, Gordon Cooper.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mundy Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Benji Cooper officiating. Burial followed in the Bill’s Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers included Daniel Brewer, Josh Young, Larry Cooper, Stacy Cooper, Cecil Copley and Jamie Cooper. Keith Crabtree, age 53, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Crabtree is survived by wife, Brenda Crabtree; parents, Haywood and Helen Crabtree; step-daughters, Michelle Tinnel and Bethany Kimbrell; brothers, Bobby Dwayne Crabtree, Timmy Crabtree and Chris Crabtree; sisters, Beverly Rich and Lisa Brown; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Crabtree was preceded in death by daughter, Jessica Crabtree; grandparents, Tilford and Nora Allred and Clovis and Sis Crabtree.

Jewell (Richards) Owens-Gunter, age 89, of Allardt, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2105 at Signature HealthCare of Fentress Co.

Mrs. Gunter was born September 3, 1925 in Fentress Co. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Gunter is survived by son, Nasby Owens, Jr. and wife, Betty of New Castle, IN; daughter, Elaine York and husband, Wallace of Allardt; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Horace Richards and wife, Gean of North Carolina; and special friends, Brooks and Judy Mace of Muncie, IN.

Mrs. Gunter was preceded in death by husband and father of her children, Nasby Owens; second husband, Thomas Gunter; father, Tilford Richards; mother, Minnie (Hutchinson) Richards; step-daughter, Ruth Dorer; three brothers, Arthur, Jim and Ben Richards; and three sisters, Betty Flowers, Ella Mae Rhule, and Suva Gunter.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in the Jennings Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sammie Dunford officiating. Burial followed in the Taylor Place Cemetery in Jamestown. Pallbearers included Barry York, Chris York, Barry Owens, Cory York, Brooks Mace, and Vince Taylor.

Bill King, age 80, of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Signature HealthCare of Jamestown.

Mr. King is survived by children, Ronnie King and wife Cassie, Tommy King, Jimmy King and wife Patricia, Debbie King Minton, Donnie King and wife Brenda, and Johnny King; sisters, Ann Harwell and husband Bill, and Betty Parker and husband Frank; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. King was preceded in death by parents, Haskel and Francis Reagan King; wife, Jewell King; sister, Janet Thompson; and aunt, Roxie Reagan.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mundy Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lonnie Cook officiating. Burial followed in Taylor Place Cemetery. Pallbearers included Shane Turner, Justin Turner, James Frogge, Willie Frogge, Mike Blair and Mike Delk.

Edna Lucille (Walker) Smith, age 92, of the Etter Community in  Pickett County, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Walker was born September 29, 1922 in Parker, TN. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Walker is survived by six sons, Michael Smith of Byrdstown; Thomas Smith and wife, Margaret of Jamestown, L.C. Smith and wife, Kathy of Byrdstown, Donald Wayne Smith and wife, Barbara of Paoli, IN, Roger Smith and wife, Hilda of the Etter Community, and David Lynn Smith and wife, Rhonda of Allons, TN; two daughters, Ruth Cope and Ruby Smith, both  of Byrdstown; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Ray Walker of Muncie, IN; and two sisters, Emigene Flowers and Dorine Flowers both of Byrdstown.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by husband, Arlie Thomas Smith; father, Charles Edward Walker; mother, Tilda Hanna (Mullins) Walker; two brothers, Luther Ray Walker and Arthur Walker; sister, Pauline Davidson; three grandsons and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 17, 2015 in the Jennings Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Tim Turpin and Bro. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Etter Cemetery in Byrdstown, TN. Pallbearers included Roger Dale Smith, Jamie Smith, Bobby Smith, Terry Smith, Tim Cope, Rodney Smith, and Priscilla Smith.
