Treva Atkinson, age 90, of Clarkrange, passed away, Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Signature HealthCARE of Fentress County.

Mrs. Atkinson was born June 1, 1922 in Manchester, Tennessee.  She was a factory worker/homemaker.

Mrs. Atkinson is survived by daughter, Barbara Ann Vaughn of Clarkrange; two sons, Jim Atkinson of Clarkrange and C.J. Atkinson of Rockwood; sister, Beatrice Neely of Clarkrange; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Atkinson was preceded in death by husband, Conard Joe Atkinson; father, Robert Lewis Taylor; mother, Vesta Jane (Bray) Taylor; and seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Clarkrange Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Smith officiating.  Burial followed in the Campground Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Taylor Sheffield, Shane Matthews, Wyatt Baldwin, Lanny Brown, Rick Neely and Kenneth Neely.

DORTHA BEATY

Dortha Beaty, age 88, of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Signature HealthCARE of Fentress County.

Mrs. Beaty was born October 19, 1924.

Mrs. Beaty is survived by daughter, Bernice Peavyhouse and husband Tommy of Jamestown; son, Kenny Beaty and wife Mary of Yorktown, IN; brother, Oval Rich of Dayton, OH; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Beaty was preceded in death by husband, Hollens Beaty; parents, Joe and Susie Davidson Rich; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Duncan officiating.  Burial followed in the Fentress Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers included Shane Matthews, Wade Matthews, Doug Voiles, Frank Lacy, Dwight Allred and Jamie Phelps.

Jimmy Beaty, age 45, of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Beaty was born November 24, 1967 in Jamestown, Tennessee.  He was a carpenter/construction worker.

Mr. Beaty is survived by wife, Roberta Beaty of Jamestown; mother, Gracie Claudine Beaty of Jamestown; son, Robert Harley Beaty of Jamestown; two sisters, Patricia Ann Neal of Jamestown and Cathy Burton and husband Mike of Cookeville; mother-in-law, Barbara Conatser of Jamestown; sister-in-law, Kitty Smith of Jamestown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mr. Beaty was preceded in death by father, Proctor Eugene Beaty; father-in-law, Robert Conatser; and sister-in-law, Mary Clayborn.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Tipton officiating.  Burial followed in the Sharp Place Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Tyler Clayborn, Andy Byrd, Casey Clayborn, Ricky Roysden, Alvin Neal, Donnie Neal, Allen Roysden, James Conatser and Jim Bob Conatser.

Jean Bow, age 78, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Skyline Hospital.

Mrs. Bow was born January 1, 1935 in Mt. Helen, Tennessee.  She was a homemaker/teacher’s aide.

Mrs. Bow is survived by husband, Bob Bow of Jamestown; son, Doug Bow and wife Linda of Scottsville, KY; daughter, Melissa Brown of Old Hickory, TN six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Janice King and husband Freeman of Jamestown and Judy Garrett of Cleveland, TN.

Mrs. Bow was preceded in death by father, Holland Ellis; and mother, Gladys (Hull) Ellis.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Jamestown First Baptist Church with Bro. Gale Hartley officiating.  Burial followed in the Mt. Helen Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Byron Garrett, David King, Aaron Catlett, Scott King, Paul King and Jason Tompkins.

CARL COPELAND

Carl Copeland, age 79, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Master Health Care Center in Algood, Tennessee.

Mr. Copeland was born May 9, 1934 in Wilder, Tennessee. He was a factory worker.

Mr. Copeland is survived by five nieces, Magdalene Hooks of Algood, Evelean Morgan of Allardt, Wilma Kinder of Parker City, IN, Janet Divens and Judy Wright both of Muncie, IN; five nephews, Jerry Copeland of Oxford, AL, Ronnie Copeland of Allardt, James Leroy Copeland of New Castle, IN, Robert Copeland of Eureka, CA and Jimmie Wright of Crossville; and a host of great nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Mr. Copeland was preceded in death by father, Fed Copeland; mother, Maggie (Hood) Copeland; two sisters, Willie D. Copeland Smith and Ruth Nell Copeland  Wright; and three brothers, Everett Lee Copeland, Fed Copeland Jr. and Luthur Copeland.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings  Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Chesson officiating.  Burial followed in Honey Springs Cemetery in Overton County, Tennessee with Military services at graveside provided by Jamestown American Legion Post 137.  Pallbearers included James Leroy Copeland, Jimmie Wright, Chad Wright, Shane Smith, Willie Wright and Bud Wright.

JACOB KEITH CUMMINGS

Jacob Keith Cummings, age 35, of Cookeville formerly of Pickett County, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Mr. Cummings was born July 13, 1977 in Overton County, Tennessee.  He was a contractor for Southern Builders.  He was a member of the Maupin United Methodist Church.

Mr. Cummings is survived by two daughters, Emma Cummings of Livingston and Harper Cummings of Cookeville; son, Jaydin Cummings of Livingston; step-daughter, Ashton Penley of Livingston; parents, Jack and Stacy Cummings of Pall Mall; sister, Jill McCormick and husband Scott of Livingston; brother, Sam Cummings of Cookeville; grandparents, Ophie Cummings of Byrdstown and Sue Rich of Pall Mall; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Mr. Cummings was preceded in death by grandfathers, Stanley Cummings and Earl Rich; cousins, Leigh Koger and Scott Rich; uncles, Scott Rich, Benny Cummings and Bill Koger; aunt, Flonnie Cummings; and great-grandmother, Mary Jane  Cravens.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastors Rodney and Kim Koger officiating.  Burial followed in the Chanute-Campbell Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Samuel Cummings, Nick Cross, Scott McCormick, Willie Cravens, Ronnie Cravens, Chris Abbott, Chris Hammock, Michael Daniels, Lance Bailey, Kord Blackmon, Davey Beaty, Joseph Dowdy and Caleb Williams.

Diamond Davis, age 90, of Pall Mall, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Davis was born February 19, 1923 in Pall Mall, Tennessee.  He was a farmer.

Mr. Davis is survived by three sons, Darrell Davis, Kenny York and Johnny Davis all of Pall Mall; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by wife, Glennis Ellen Davis; father, Nasby Davis; mother, Bertha (Williams) Davis; daughter, Ruth York; two grandchildren; and five brothers and sisters, Geneva, Getha, Dwight, Dolphas and Doyle.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Alan Dixon officiating.  Burial followed in the Frogge Chapel Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Wayne Lloyd, Jason Koger, Matthew Dolen, Ceifer Davis, Jeff York and Lincoln Davis.

Orien C. Delk, age 88, of Jamestown, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Delk was born April 29, 1925 in Jamestown, Tennessee.  He was a engineer.

Mr. Delk is survived by wife, Frankie Delk of Jamestown; five daughters, Maggie Wheaton and husband John and Dawn Branim and husband James both of Allardt, Carolyn Fodyce and husband  Chris of Amherst, OH, Debra Smith and husband Mike of Louisville, KY; and Barbara Vassar and husband Chris of Sheffield Lake, OH; son, David Delk and wife Deborah of Jamestown; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Delk was preceded in death by father, Jessie Woodson Delk; mother, Alice (York) Delk; daughter, Janice Sebastian; three brothers, Cletis, Clyde and Noble; and five sisters, Lucy, Rebey, Wilma, Ruth and Jeaneva.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Earl Sweat officiating.  Burial followed in the Franklin Cemetery.  Pallbearers included James Branim, Gabe Smith, Alex Vassar, Travis Fordyce, Michael Delk, Anthony Delk, Devin Deremiah, and Brad Deremiah.

Mom[1]VIVIAN GAIL (BEATY) HELMER

Vivian Gail (Beaty) Helmer, age 69, of Ft. Myers, Florida, went to be with her Lord on April 14, 2013.

Mrs. Helmer was born in Fentress County on October 30, 1943. She was a wonderful mother and loving wife. Gail lived in Cincinnati during her daughters early school years, moving back to Tennessee when they were in high school. After relocating to Florida in the late 70s, Gail took up golfing and enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite trips was to Egypt and Israel. She will be missed by many and loved always.

Mrs. Helmer is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Douglas and husband Jamie and Connie Crockett; grandchildren, Sierra and Austin Douglas; great grandson, Eli; sisters, Charlene Smith and Judy Hall and husband Butch; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Helmer was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Helmer; sister, Wilda Helmer; brothers, James Beaty and Richard Dale Beaty; and  parents, Charlie R. and Pensie Opal (Carr) Beaty.

A graveside gathering will be held Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Jay Conatser Cemetery in Little Crab, TN.

Vicky LivingstonVICKY LYNN HURST LIVINGSTON

Vicky Lynn Hurst Livingston,  age 53, of Simi Valley, CA formerly of Jamestown, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Simi Valley Hospital in Simi Valley, CA.

Mrs. Livingston loved the outdoors, camping, riding motorcycles and ATV’s, watching “The Young and Restless,” reading cookbooks –even though she didn’t cook, and many varieties of music including Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan.  After her graduation in 1978 from York Institute, she moved to Burbank, CA in 1979, where she was determined to make it–and she did!  When she quit work, she had been a top car dealership business manager for over 16 years.  She met her husband Mark in 1991 and they enjoyed 22 years together.

Mrs. Livingston is survived by husband, Mark Livingston; step-daughter, Erin of Simi Valley, CA; sisters, Mary Lou Franklin, Peggy Trowbridge and husband Bob, Nancy Hurst and Shirl Hurst all of Jamestown, Judy Winningham of Indianapolis, IN and Pat Hurst of Redondo Beach, CA; brothers, Luke Hurst of Frazier Park, CA and Marty Hurst and wife Carolyn of Jamestown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Mrs. Livingston was preceded in death by mother, Charlene Vance Hurst; father, Oliver Hurst; brothers, Carl Jackson Hurst, Kenneth Hurst, and one infant brother; sisters, Moody Hurst and one infant sister; half-brother, Floyd Hurst; and half-sister, Jean Privett.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Teddy William Stephens, age 62, of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Stephens was born August 22, 1950 in Jamestown, Tennessee.  He was a factory worker.

Mr. Stephens is survived by three daughters, Tonya Stephens-Demers of Jamestown, Tina Renea Stephens-Peludat of Beaufort, SC and Tammy Sue Stephens of Saginaw, MI; son, Teddy William Stephens, Jr. of Jamestown; ten grandchildren; two brothers, David Lee Stephens of Jamestown and Danny Ray Stephens of Warren, MI; sister, Sherry Lynn Stephens of Warren, MI; uncle, Ed Stephens and wife Peggy of Jamestown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by wife, Vicky Georgeanne; father, Arnold McKinley; mother, Vesta Stephens; and brother, Arnold McKinley.

Graveside services were held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Fentress Memorial Gardens with Bro. Dale Cox officiating. Military service was provided by Jamestown American Legion Post 137.  Pallbearers included Teddy Stephens Jr., Ray Stephens, Jeff Stephens, Jeremy Stephens, Andrew Demers and Brad Peludat.
