JAMES OTTIS BEATY

James Ottis Beaty, age 81, of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Beaty was born December 3, 1931.

Mr. Beaty is survived by wife, Geneva Beaty of Jamestown; son, James Beaty and wife Brenda of Jamestown; three daughters, Linda Pyle and husband Ricky and Brenda Tinch and husband Bill both of Jamestown and Barbara Jo Navarro and husband Raymond of Texas; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Beaty was preceded in death by William H. and Rosetta Clayborn Beaty.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Duncan officiating.  Burial followed in the Fentress Memorial Gardens.  Active pallbearers included Carl Franklin, Shane Monday, Josh Swallows, Bill Tinch, Roger Compton and Brent Garrett.  Honorary pallbearers included Dan Conatser, Bud Wright, Mike Beaty and Fentress Farmers Co-op Employees.

Mundy Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

 

BETTY CROUCH

Betty Crouch, age 83, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Signature HealthCARE of Fentress County.

Mrs. Crouch was born January 22, 1930.

Mrs. Crouch is survived by daughter, Karen Rindler and husband Larry of Jamestown; three sons, Steve Crouch and wife Charlotte of Jamestown, Richard Crouch and wife Melissa of Prospect, TN, and Jeff Crouch and wife Regina of Allardt; son-in-law, Joe Gernt of Allardt; two brothers, John Howard of Clarksville and Avery LeRoy Howard; two sisters, Jeannie Evans of Jamestown and Joann Upchurch and husband Tom of Nashville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Crouch was preceded in death by husband, Herbert Crouch; daughter, Kathy Gernt; mother, Margie Howard; step-father, Bill Howard; four brothers, Carl, Berlin, and William Howard, Jr. and Red Capps; and two sisters, Lois Timmons and Peggy Wood.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Duncan officiating.  Burial followed in the Taylor Place Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Andy Tinch, Tony Gernt, Jakob Hull, A.J. Gernt, Austin Gernt, Scottie Crouch and Toby Crouch.

ABBIE RAE GRAMLING

Abbie Rae Gramling, infant, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Ft. Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Abbie was born March 31, 2013.

Abbie is survived by parents, Kayla Kassow and Jordan Gramling of Jamestown; grandparents, Ernie Kassow and Christine Sellers both of Jamestown and Nancy Owens of Florida; great-grandmother, Barbara Page of Jamestown; sister, Bailey Gramling of Florida; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and other family.

Graveside services were held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Fentress Memorial Gardens with Bro. Gale Hartley officiating.

Jennings Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

 

Untitled-1PRENTICE COOPER NEAL

Prentice Cooper Neal, age 74, of Cookeville, TN., formerly of Columbus, IN, passed away        April 1, 2013 at his residence with his wife and three daughters by his side.

Mr. Neal was born October 19, 1938 in Forbus, TN.  He graduated from York High School in 1957. He was the son of the late Freeman and Effie (Crouch) Neal. He retired from Navistar in Indianapolis, IN as a Pattern Maker. He was a Master Mason of Lodge 643, Sunnybrook, KY. He obtained his Scottish Rites on April 11, 1992.  He was a member of Elizabethtown Christian Church and a former Deacon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working in his garden and yard, watching NASCAR and college football.

Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Patricia Crockett Neal; three daughters, Kimberly White-Herman and husband Scott of Cookeville, TN; Kathryn (Kat) Yeager and husband Kevin of Nashville, IN; and Victoria Baker and husband Randy of Columbus, IN; two grandsons, Dylan and Zane Yeager of Bloomington, IN; two granddaughters, Taylor and Matison Baker and one great-granddaughter, Graesyn Cooper Steinkoenig of Columbus, IN; one sister, Joyce Conatser and husband Buster of Jamestown, TN.

Mr. Neal was proceeded in death by his parents, Freeman and Effie (Crouch) Neal;  two brothers, Thomas Neal and Dennis Neal;  and one sister, Naola Price.

Private graveside services were held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Doran Chambers officiating.  Burial followed in the Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial services followed at Elizabethtown Christian Church at 1:00 p.m.

 

 

CHRISTOPHER GRAYSON DAVID SCROGGINS

Christopher Grayson David Scroggins, infant, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at Ft. Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Christopher is survived by parents, Kara Turner and Larry Scroggins; grandparents, Regina Turner, Christopher Mark Turner, Connie Larrimor, and Ricky David Scroggins; great-grandparents, Patricia Duncan and Marie Gunter; special aunt, Angel Nicole Turner; special uncle, Billy Joe Turner; and God parents, Alex Milam and Justin Woodall.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Lambeth Woodward officiating.  Burial followed in the Livingston Cemetery.

Memorial service for Evelyn Cravens Smith, age 73, of Clemmons, NC formerly of Clarkrange, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Clarkrange United Methodist Church in Clarkrange, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for service on Saturday.

J.H. Ward, age 81, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ward was born May 21, 1931 in Burrville, Tennessee.  He was sself-employed in the recycling business.

Mr. Ward is survived by three sons, Larry Ward and wife Linda of Jamestown, David Ward and wife Nancy of Wartburg and Ricky Ward and wife Sandy of Jamestown; two daughters, Anita York and husband Tony of Jamestown and Marsha Andrews of Macon, GA; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Fisher of Grand Saline, TX and Joyce Ann Tinch of Jamestown; and sister-in-law, Wanda Ward of Florida.

Mr. Ward was preceded in death by wife, Clara Jo Ward; father, John Henry Ward, Sr.; mother, Nona Ann Ward; six sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. James York and Bro. Harold Slaven officiating.  Burial followed in the Old Barger Cemetery.  Active pallbearers included Jerry Tinch, Wayne Ipock, Jeff Crabtree, David Roark, Darwin Nance, Aaron Pedigo and Dustin Ward.  Honorary pallbearers included Christopher Miller, Aaron Nance, Jordan Ward, Zackary Winningham, Brian Crabtree and Scott Ward.
