GARY KING

Gary King, age 57, of Allardt, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at his home.

Mr. King is survived by three brothers, Ricky King, Ronnie King and Eddie King; four sisters, Bonnie Wright and husband Oney, Sharon Poore, JoAnn Creselious and husband Truman and Tammy Alley and husband Terry; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mr. King was preceded in death by parents, Issac and Edith King; brother, Billy Ray Atkinson; two sisters, Betty Little and Glenda Harding; and infant sister, Katherine King.

Graveside services were held Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Brown Cemetery with Lawrence Blevins officiating.  Pallbearers included Mike Wright, Ray Atkinson, Anthony Creselious, James Poore, Zack Alley, Trent King, Verlin Brooks, R.B.  Brown, J.C. Brown and Ricky King.

Mundy Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

LINDA JOYCE SULLIVAN

Linda Joyce Sullivan, age 75, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Monticello, Kentucky.

Mrs. Sullivan is survived by son, Jack Sullivan and wife Jody; daughter, Deborah Hollers and husband Don; grandchildren, Crystal, Donella, Heather and Glen; several great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Vaughn and husband Lee; brother, David Sullivan; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by parents, Dee and Mary Brunley; brothers, Harold and Junior; sisters, Lela and Mary Eatt.

Visitation was held Thursday, May 17, 2018  at Marvin H. Hicks and Vaughn Funeral Home in Monticello, KY from 4:00-8:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Burial was held Friday, May 18, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time in the Cabel Cemetery in Monticello, KY.

IVA MAE LAVENDER PHILLIPS

Iva Mae Lavender Phillips, age 66, of Oneida, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oneida.

Iva retired as Administrative Manager of the District Attorney General’s Office for the 8th Judicial District, was a former editor of the Morgan County News, and graduated from Sunbright High School as Valedictorian in 1969.  As a nontraditional student, she earned degrees from the University of Tennessee (B.A.) and Tennessee Technological University (M.A.) with high honors.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ivan M. Lavender of Deer Lodge, TN.

Iva is survived by her husband:  Wm. Paul Phillips of Oneida; her son and daughter-in-law:  Will and Sarah Phillips of Sharps Chapel; beloved twin grandchildren:  Everett and Evelyn; her mother:  Pearl Lavender of Deer Lodge; her brother:  David and wife Jane Lavender of Kingston; her sisters:  Ginny and husband Johnny Pemberton of Lancing, Helen and husband Wes Pemberton of Crossville, Bonnie Lavender of Lancing, and Annabell and husband Jimmy Robbins of Jacksonville, FL; her sister and brothers-in-law, Lynda and Johan Madson of Cary, NC, Tom and Dorothy Phillips of Oneida, Steve and Gina Phillips of Oneida, and Gary Phillips of Oneida; her nephews and nieces:  James and wife Susanne Pemberton of Lancing, Jennifer and husband Larry Smarsh of Sunbright, Jody and husband  Lester Strunk of Oneida, Johan P. Madson and wife Anne Hayes of Greensboro, NC, Marinda and husband Brad Crochet of Cary, NC, Lori and husband Phillip Jones of Oneida, Wade and wife Ginger Phillips of Knoxville, Stephen Phillips of Oneida, Jonathan Phillips of Oneida, Christian Phillips of Oneida, and Robyn Phillips of Chattanooga; her great-nephews and great-nieces:  Jonathan Smarsh of Sunbright, Rachel and husband Ryan Human of Deer Lodge, Jayden and Jordan Pemberton of Lancing, Even and Gabe Crochet of Cary, NC, Alex and Claire Jones of Oneida, Anderson and Amelia Phillips of Knoxville, and Brennan and Sawyer Phillips of Oneida; her beloved nurse:  Tabi Smith; and her best friends Marsha Swain, Tracey Orick, and Milford Sexton.

Funeral services were held  at First Baptist Church (201 S. Main St., Oneida, TN 37841) on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Randy Pressnell officiating.

The family gathered at Jones and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. to proceed to Cooper Memorial Gardens (3301 Coopertown Rd, Oneida) at New Haven Baptist Church for burial at 11:00 a.m.  Pallbearers included John W. Tate, Mike Swain, Al Lay, Johnny Pemberton, James Pemberton, Larry Smarsh, Jonathon Smarsh, and Milford Sexton. Honorary pallbearers included Mark Kline, and Joe Fields.

In-Lieu-of-Flowers:  donations in memory of Iva may be made to the Iva L. Phillips Scholarship Fund, Roane State Foundation, 276 Patton Lane, Harriman, TN 37748-5011.

MILLARD WATERS

Millard Waters, age 90, of the Banner Springs Community, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Tennova Healthcare of Jamestown.

Mr. Waters is survived by granddaughter, Katie Miller and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Gabe and Zach Miller; brother, Marvin Waters and wife Naomi; two sisters, Mayme Neely and Mennie Dodson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Waters was preceded in death by first wife, Hallie Waters; second wife, Leila Waters; son, Bill Waters and wife Pat Waters; parents, Milford and Mae Waters; and sister, Mallie Roberts and husband Clayton “Toad” Roberts.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Clarkrange Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Gruber officiating.  Burial followed in the Spring Chapel Cemetery.  Active pallbearers included David Waters, Daniel Waters, Grant DeLatoire, Lester Clark, Brian Norris and Randle Ledbetter.  Honorary pallbearers included Michael Scott Howard and Blake Ledbetter.
