Obituaries for the week of JUNE 6, 2018


Curtis Garrett, age 87, of Jamestown, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at Signature Healthcare of Fentress County.

Mr. Garrett was born November 8, 1930 in Robbins, Tennessee.  He was retired from the Army.

Mr. Garrett is survived by wife, Clara Mae (Wright) Garrett; daughter, Jenny Strahley and husband Bob; son, Joe Garrett and wife Rhonda; brother, Erby Garrett; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special nieces and nephews, Crys Morgan and husband Leroy, Tracy, Lisa, Vicki, Terri, Billy and Michael.

Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by father, Zack Morris Garrett; mother, Flora Ethel (Jones) Garrett; brother, William Carlos “Smiley” Garrett; two sisters, Arie Ethel Garrett and Cleda Irene “Cookie” Jones; brothers-in-law, Leo Garrett and Ed Jones; sisters-in-law, Helen Garrett and Diane Garrett; and nephews, Bobby and Marty Garrett.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Anthony Creselious officiating.  Burial followed in the Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery in Robbins, TN.  American Legion Post 137 members served as pallbearers.

Jerry “Geebie” Whited, age 58, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Whited was born March 14, 1960 in Oneida, Tennessee.  He was a carpet installer.

Mr. Whited is survived by daughter, Nicole Whited; son, T.J. Whited; two sisters, Pennie Delk and husband Mike and Stephanie Bradford and husband Brian; father, Jerry Whited; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Whited was preceded in death by mother, Mary Thelma (Ellis) Garrett; sister, Victoria Leffew; and brother, Gregory Garrett.

The family has chosen cremation.  Burial of ashes was held Friday, June 1, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Fentress Memorial Gardens.
