Diana Ballard, age 45, formally of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, June 6th at her home.

Ms. Ballard was born December 12, 1971 in Orlando, FL. She was a former LPN.

Ms. Ballard is survived by her daughter, Chelsae Garrett  & husband, Ethan; grandchildren, Daphne and Dailah Garrett; mother, Cheryl Ballard; as well as other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by son, Bryan Long; sisters, Kimberly Mobley and Elizabeth Ansell; and grandparents, Delores Scott and Orvin Ballard.

Family has chosen cremation and will have a memorial service for friends and family on June 24th, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. til 3:00 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church in the fellowship hall in Allardt, TN.

Ila “Tootie” Bertram

Ila “Tootie” Bertram, age 86 of Crossville passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Bertram is survived by sons, Lowell Thomas Bertram and Matthew Wayne Bertram; daughters, Lucy Kay Layton & husband, Tim, Jennie Gregg & husband, Nathan, Crystal Bertram and Hope Bertram; brother, Ernest Stephens; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bertram was preceded in death by husband, Everett Bertram; parents, Alexander and Buna Tipton Stephens; brothers, Warren Stephens, Felton Stephens, and Arthur Stephens; sisters, Ola Owens, Wilma Hoover and Ina Yates.

Funeral services were held  Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mundy Funeral Home in Jamestown, TN with Bro. Alan Grindstaff officiating. Burial followed in the Bills Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers included Jeremy Oliver, Jerry Crabtree, Johnny Stephens, David Stephens, Nathan Gregg and Ron Stephens.

Wiley Bow

Wiley Bow, age 86 of Jamestown passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Signature Healthcare of Fentress County.

Mr. Bow is survived by sons, Donald Bow, Joel Bow, Ray Bow & wife, Donna and Jeff Bow; daughters, Sandra Jones, Gail Roysden & husband, Johnny and Gaye Atkinson & husband, Mike; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Shirley Bow & wife, Eloise; sister, Carrie Tinch.

Mr. Bow was preceded in death by wife, Flonnie Gooding Bow; and parents, Walter and Estie Bow.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at Mundy Funeral Home  with Pastor Dale Cox officiating. Burial followed in the Taylor Place Cemetery. Pallbearers included Tony Carter, Daniel Jones, Shane Atkinson, Travis Roysden, Cody Jones, Colton Jones and Gage Smith.

Ermine King Campau, age 96 of the Riverton Community passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Campau is survived by son, Billy Campau; special niece, Wanda Savage; special friends, Michelle Conatser, Masheala Conatser and Heather Conatser; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mrs. Campau was preceded in death by parents, William Robert King and Sarah Wright King; brothers, Cartha King, Gradie King, Cordis King and Shelvie King; and sisters, Inis King, Zadie King, Eva King, and Elva King Turner.

Cletus Crabtree, age 51 of Pall Mall passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare of Jamestown.

Mr. Crabtree is survived by wife, Julie Crabtree; daughter, Rachel Crabtree; brothers, Mark Crabtree and Matthew Crabtree; sister, Debbie Brown; half-sisters, Carlie Jones and Casey Moon.

Mr. Crabtree was preceded in death by parents, Roger Crabtree and Hessie Perry; grandparents, Cotton & Catherine Crabtree, Shirley & Ollie Hayes.

The family has chosen Cremation with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

Sheldon Cooper, age 65 of Jamestown passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Cooper was born July 19, 1951 in Jamestown, TN. He was owner of an automotive body shop.

Mr. Cooper is survived by wife, Regina (Bullard) Cooper; daughters, Katina Elmore & husband, Brett, Sherrie Price & husband, Stacy, and Crystal Campbell & husband, Dustin; special children, Lindsey & Mikey Whited; grandchildren, Drew, Georgia Bell, Makayla, Brody, Tucker, Paisley and Austin; twin brother, Shelby Cooper;  brothers, Charles Cooper, Ted Cooper, Coy Cooper and Steve Cooper; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Judy R. Derr, age 70, of Grimsley passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at Cumberland House Hospice.

Mrs. Derr was born August 18, 1946 in Peru, Indiana. She was a Walmart Pharmacy Tech.

Mrs. Derr is survived by husband, James Derr; son, Troy Culp & wife, Meridith Gebhardt; grandchildren, Drew Culp, C.J. Morrison and Megan Gebhardt.

Mrs. Derr was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Rose Mary Smith.

Johnny D. Gunter

Johnny D. Gunter, age 81 of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Signature Healthcare of Fentress Co.

Mr. Gunter was born May 7, 1936 in Fentress Co., TN. He was a truck driver.

Mr. Gunter is survived by daughters, Regina Price and husband, Darrell, Lisa Malone and Monica Swallows, and husband, Scott; sisters, Wilma Brady, Pauline King and husband, Larry, Grace Doss; brothers, Bobby Gunter & wife, Doris and Jimmy Gunter; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gunter was preceded in death by infant daughter, Sandra Lynn Gunter; father, Barlow Gunter; mother, Audie (Beaty) Gunter; brothers, Charles Gunter, Gratis Gunter, and James “Buster” Gunter; great-grandchild, Alex LaRue.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Jennings Funeral Homes Chapel with Bro. James Moody officiating.  A Military Service at graveside was provided by American Legion Post 137 at Fentress Memorial Gardens. Claudia M. Moles

Claudia M. Moles, age 70, of Muncie, IN passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at Parker Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Moles was born February 22, 1947 in Jamestown, TN, the daughter of Virgil and Wilma (Norris) Brannon and moved to Muncie fifty years ago. Claudia worked at Muncie Dry Cleaners for several years as a clerk and a seamstress. She was a twenty-three year member of Bible Christian Church. Claudia adored her grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible. She loved to sing and she sang for many years with her family in several churches. Claudia also loved flowers and bird watching.

Mrs. Moles is survived by daughter, Debbie Acree and husband, Mark; sons, Tim Moles & wife, Melissa, Lloyd Moles & wife, Lisa and Nickodemus Moles & wife, Mistie; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers; four sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mrs. Moles was preceded in death by father, Virgil Brannon; mother, Wilma (Norris) Brannon; husband, Clinton Moles; five brothers; two sisters.

Cynthia Annette Smith, age 64, of Jamestown passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare-Jamestown.

Ms. Smith was born March 31, 1953 in Memphis, TN. She was a CNA.

Ms. Smith is survived by sister, Kim Massey & husband, Gary; brothers, Jack Smith, Jr., Darryl Smith and Mark Smith; nephews, Luke Alonso & wife, Melissa, Wesley Smith, and David Smith; nieces, Ashely Smith & husband, Elijah, Dara Hargess and Sara Ann Smith; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by father, Dr. Jack Smith and mother, Alice Francis (Coffey) Smith.

Hazel Tinch, age 78 of Jamestown passed away Sunday, June 11`, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Knoxville.

Mrs. Tinch is survived by husband, Paul Tinch; sons, Douglas Tinch and Paul Tinch, Jr.; daughters, Vanessa Ward and Melissa Briggs; sisters, Neva Garrett, Tina Smith, Jewell Campbell and Diana Gunter; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Tinch was preceded in death by parents, Orlando and Rachel Capps; brothers, Luther Capps, Frank Capps and Fred Capps; sister, Helen Garrett.

The family has chosen Cremation with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

Bobby L. Tyree

Bobby Lee Tyree, 83, passed away June 13, 2017 at his daughter’s home after a long illness.

Bobby was born in Rockbridge County and was a son of the late Emmett Lloyd Walker Tyree and Lula Duff Tyree. He was also predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Butler Tyree; a brother, Billy; a sister, Gale; a grandson, Dean Tyree; and a great grandson, Blake Beaty.

He was retired from W.R. Grace Company and a former member of Carrsville Fire Department and Blackwater Hunt Club.   

Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Joshi (Phil Black) of Carrsville; two sons, Duane Tyree (Cathy) of Jamestown, TN and Jerry Tyree (Leslie) of Newsoms; four grandchildren, Sandy Beaty (Michael) of Jamestown, TN, Ryan Joshi (Kacy) of Knoxville, TN, Chris Joshi (Mariah) of Nixia, MO and Davey Tyree of Newsoms; three great-grandsons, Brycen Beaty, Brayden Beaty and Finley Joshi; two sisters, Dorothy Bailey of Hot Springs, AR and Patty Smith of Utah; and his beloved dog, Sophie.

The family would like to give special thanks to dear friends, Kim Davis and husband Mac.

A graveside funeral was held at 3PM Saturday. June 17, 2017 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Curtis Faison officiated. Mrs. Edna (Goad) Tompkins

Mrs. Edna (Goad) Tompkins, age 91, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare in Jamestown, TN. She was saved at an early age and joined the Honey Creek United Baptist Church and later moved her membership to the Fellowship United Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health began to fail and she was no longer able to attend church. She was married to Rev. Leland Tompkins on November 6, 1943. She was a faithful preacher’s wife for many years.

She is survived by one son, Darrel Tompkins and wife Charlotte; one daughter, Judy Garrett and husband Carlie; five grandchildren: Wade Garrett, Russell Tompkins and wife Crystal, Lorna Hamby and husband Steve, Lana Ellis and husband Stephen; Kevin Garrett and wife Reva; 10 great-grandchildren: Douglas Garrett, Crystal Garrett, Ethan Tompkins, Evan Tompkins, Kaitlyn Hamby, Johnathan Hamby, Landon Ellis, Christopher Garrett, Jacob Garrett and Andrew Garrett; one brother, Clemon Goad; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Leland Tompkins; parents, Laymond Goad and Velma (Garrett) Goad; two brothers, Chester Goad and Lloyd Goad; four sisters, Audrey Goad, Flonnie Garrett, Gladys Ward and Nettie Ellis.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fellowship United Baptist Church with Bro. Brady Goad and Bro. Vernon Goad officiating. Burial followed in the Fellowship Cemetery. Pallbearers included Douglas Garrett, Ethan Tompkins, Evan Tompkins, Johnathan Hamby, Landon Ellis, Christopher Garrett, Jacob Garrett, and Andrew Garrett.

She lived a long life here on this earth and will be sadly missed, but our loss is Heaven’s gain.
