HERBERT Q. GROCE

Herbert Q. Groce, age 85, of Moodyville Road in Byrdstown, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Mr. Groce was born July 24, 1932 in Byrdstown, Tennessee.  He was a member and deacon at Moodyville Missionary Baptist Church, past vice president of the Farmer’s Co-op cooperative office in Lavergne, TN, served as bank director at Union Planters Bank, Regions Bank and Union Bank, and was a farmer.  He was also a member of the Byrdstown Masonic Lodge #496 and Byrdstown Lions Club.

Mr. Groce is survived by wife, Jennie Ruth (Crouch) Groce of Byrdstown, TN; son, Herbert Turney Groce and wife Tammy of Byrdstown; two sisters, Judy Huddleston and husband Willie and Margo Robbins of Byrdstown; brother, Mike Groce and wife Bonnie of North Branch, MI; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Mr. Groce was preceded in death by parents, Rich Groce and Alline (McDonald) Groce; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Groce; sister, Shirley Kinchen; and two brothers-in-law, Gerlad Kinchen and Ward Robbins.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Moodyville Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Joel Chappell officiating.  Burial followed in the Lovelady-Sims Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Jerry Kinchen, Terry Robbins, Wayne Robbins, Banks Lanier, Tim Smith, Johnny Beaty and Michael Groce.

HAROLD MATTHEWS

Harold Matthews, age 72, of the Shirley Community, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Ft. Sanders Medical Center.

Mr. Matthews was born October 30, 1945 in Jamestown, Tennessee.  He was a carpenter.

Mr. Matthews is survived by wife, Della (Voiles) Matthews; two daughters, Mashawna (Matthews) Huling and husband L.C. and Deanna (Matthews) Keeton and husband Tracy;  son, Darren Matthews; four grandchildren; seven sisters, Joan Wright, Mary Rabideau, Martha Smith, Susie Vaughn, Wanda Choate, Judy Boling and Brenda Matthews; three brothers, Jimmy Matthews, Richard Matthews and Mike Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by father, Harley Matthews; and mother, Hazel Matthews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Delmer Savage, Bro. Ray Cooper and Bro. Ernest Campbell officiating.  Burial followed in the Wright Cemetery in the Shirley Community.  Pallbearers included Michael Manis, Wesley Manis, Cole Keeton, Clark Matthews, Dwain Matthews, Stewart Matthews, Greg Vaughn and Noah Bunch.

CLAUDELL NORRIS

Claudell Norris, age 85, of Jamestown, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Norris is survived by wife, Bettie Lou Norris; two sons, Keven Norris and wife Robin and Kent Norris and fiance Labriska; brother, Ronnie Norris and wife Lindy; three grandchildren; and special cousin, Ed Linder.

Mr. Norris was preceded in death by parents, R.L. and Osha Norris; and sister, Berniece Stephens.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Sammie Dunford officiating.  Burial followed in the Roanoke Cemetery. Active pallbearers included Danny Ramsey, Michael Reagon, Travis Fowler, Jaden Bowling, Dillon Brown, Dallas Stephens, Jared Norris and Jason Norris.  Honorary pallbearers included Mark Linder, Edric Linder, Nathaniel Linder, Jim Linder, Gary Linder and Steve Threet.

Mundy Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

DAVE TERRY

Dave Terry, age 71, of Jamestown, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Terry is survived by wife Vivian Terry; two sons, Lyndon Wright and wife Sherry and Matthew South; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Parker and husband Eddie and June Sullivan; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mr. Terry was preceded in death by father, John Terry; mother, Vernie Terry; four brothers, Stanley Terry, Lillard Terry, Junior Terry and Millard Terry; and five sisters, Ann Green, Jewell Chance, Willie Garrett, Virginia Jones and Jean Pullins.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Peyton Terry and Bro. Roger Burks officiating.  Entombment followed Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Fentress Memory Gardens with military services conducted by American Legion Post 137. Pallbearers included Lynn Terry, Douglas Taylor, Aric Terry, Rick Terry, Anthony Terry, Chris Anderson, Eddie Jones, Edgar Parker, Shawn Wright and Todd Taylor.
