JACK CARSON BYRD

Jack Carson Byrd, age 63, of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Vanderbilt University Hospital.

Mr. Byrd was born January 4, 1955 in Jamestown, Tennessee.  He was a saw operator.

Mr. Byrd is survived by wife, Sandy (Crabtree) Byrd; son, Jacob Byrd and wife Tiffany; mother, Ruby Jewell (Smith) Byrd; two brothers, Frank Byrd and Sam Byrd and wife Joella; two sisters, Vicky Sue Beaty and husband Larry and Anita Kay Hawks; half sister, Linda White; father-in-law, Zola Edward Crabtree; mother-in-law, Abbie Lee Crabtree; brother-in-law, Ronnie Crabtree and wife Annie; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends and all his Manna House Family.

Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by father, Horace Lee Byrd; brother, Ricky Byrd; sister, Aletha Faye Stephens; half brother, Billy Ray Byrd; and uncle, Bill Byrd.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Allen and Bro. Billy Webb officiating.  Burial followed in Travisville Cemetery in Pall Mall.  Active pallbearers included Frank Byrd, Rex Crabtree, Daniel Crabtree, Wayne Crabtree, Rodney Reagan, Tanner Reagan, Abraham Stephens and Elijah Stephens.  Honorary pallbearers included Larry Beaty, Jimmy Byrd, Sam Byrd, Shannon Byrd, Ronnie Crabtree, Mark Elkins, Johnny King, Eric Moon, Bobby Stephens and Dave Stephens.

THELMA CRAVENS CODY

Thelma Cravens Cody, age 92, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Signature Healthcare of Fentress County.

Mrs. Cody is survived by two daughters, Deedie Price and Charlotte Delk; five grandchildren, Tammy, Danny, Stephanie, Shonda and Chea;  six great-grandchildren, Tabitha, Josh, Hayley, Zayne, Zoe and Dylan; four great-great-grandchildren, Ava, Ethan, Caroline and Roman; best friend, Anita Lowery; and her Signature Healthcare Family.

Mrs. Cody was preceded in death by parents, Henderson and Myrtie Cravens; daughter, Janet Jetter; two sisters, Hazel Owens and Juanita Flowers; and an infant brother.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Daryl Rains officiating.  Burial followed in the Taylor Place Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Danny Greer, Kendell Crabtree, Henry Givens, Dillon Dailey, Jason Franklin, Kendall Franklin and Jacob Franklin.

DAWSON LEE COOPER

Dawson Lee Cooper, 2 months old, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Tennova Healthcare of Jamestown.

Dawson was born November 10, 2017 in Livingston, Tennessee.

Dawson is survived by parents, Andrea Danielle Cooper, Chelsae Garrett and husband Ethan; brother, David Ray Wright; two sisters, Daphne Garrett and Dailah Garrett; grandparents, Sideanna and Mitchell Vernon, Jamie and Ginger Long, Jeff Cooper and Lona Brooks; and great-grandparents, Laura Cooper and William and Arvina Garrett.

Dawson was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Elaine and Fred Long and Clarence “Butch” Cooper.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Royce Huddleston officiating.  Burial followed in the Crockett Cemetery in Jamestown.

DOROTHY DUNFORD

Dorothy Dunford, age 85 of the Honey Creek Community, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Dunford is survived by husband, Harold Dunford; son, Bro. Bruce Dunford and wife Julie; daughter, Sharon Peters and husband Bro. Ronnie Peters; brother, Raymond Bow and wife Lois; three sisters, Lela Ellis and husband Obert, Glenna Dyer and husband Ron and Janice Smith and husband Larry; brother-in-law, Walter Tompkins; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Dunford was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Naomi Bow; two brothers, Clark Bow and wife Lenore and Leslie Bow and wife Mildred; and sister, Ruth Tompkins.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Honey Creek United Baptist Church with Bro. Carlie Garrett, Bro. Payton Slaven, Bro. Ronnie Peters and Bro. Bruce Dunford officiating.  Burial followed in the Fellowship Cemetery.  Active pallbearers included Payton Slaven, Eric Dunford, Robbie Koger, Craig Dunford, Stanley Hull and Zachary Slaven.  Honorary pallbearers included Landon Koger, Cameron Koger, Cherokee Johnson, Phoenix Hull, Noah Hull and Lane Dunford.

JACK FRYE

Jack Frye, age 77, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Tennova Healthcare of Jamestown.

Mr. Frye was born October 17, 1940 in Oneida, Tennessee.  He worked in construction.

Mr. Frye is survived by wife, Christine (Beaty) Frye; three daughters, Marilyn Holt, Margaret Bridges and Bonnie Long; son, Andy Frye; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Frye; six sisters, Patty Foster, Ruth Bowling, Thelma Thomas, Nancy Bowling, Kathy Miller and Shelia Crabtree; and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Frye was preceded in death by father, Junior Frye; mother, Kathleen (Seabolt) Frye; grandson, Josh Arms; and brother, James Frye.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Golden officiating.  Burial followed in the Spurlin Cemetery in Tinchtown.  Pallbearers included Kenneth Miller, Brandon Miller, Michael Miller, Keith Miller, Scotty Warden, Matthew Warden and Corey Frye.

KASSOW, SR.

Charles Lee Kassow, Sr., age 62, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Tennova Healthcare of Jamestown.

Mr. Kassow was born October 20, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He was a caregiver.

Mr. Kassow is survived by wife, Paula Kassow; son, Charles Kassow, Jr. and wife Jessica; three daughters, Peggy Parker, Jackie Thompson and Mary Williamson and husband Joe; grandson, Jacob Parker and wife Lauren; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; five brothers, Wayne Kassow, Johnny Kassow and wife Sandy, Ray Kassow and wife Margaret, Albert Kassow and Ernie Kassow; brother-in-law, Joe Domico and wife Janice; special friends, Jeffery Hatfield and Jerry Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mr. Kassow was preceded in death by father, Ellis Kassow; mother, Peggy (Smith) Kassow; and son, Chris Kassow.

Visitation was held Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Curtis Cravens officiating.

NEVA GARRETT

Neva Garrett, age 71 of the Armathwaite Community, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by husband, Carl Garrett; son, Nathan Garrett and wife Susan; two daughters, Rebecca Garrett and Jenny Beaty and husband Cris; father-in-law, Emmett Garrett; three sisters, Jewel Campbell, Tina Smith, Diana Gunter and husband Dale; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by parents, Shorty and Emma Capps; three brothers, Luther Capps, Frank Capps and Fred Capps; and two sisters, Hazel Tinch and Helen Garrett.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Voiles officiating.  Burial followed in the Range Cemetery. Pallbearers included Nathan Garrett, Cris Beaty, Trent King, Brent Whitehead, Mike Beaty, David Slaven, Greg Capps and Billy Garrett.

BEATRICE NEELY

Beatrice Neely, age 91, of Clarkrange, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at Standing Stone Care & Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Neely was born December 13, 1926 in Cookeville, Tennessee.  She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Neely is survived by daughter, Glenna Sisco and husband Donnie; two sons, Kenneth Neely and wife Brenda and Ricky Neely and wife Sherline; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Neely was preceded in death by husband, Denton Neely; son, Roger Neely; father, Robert Taylor; mother, Vestie (Bray) Taylor; and ten brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Union Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Josh England officiating.  Burial followed in the Campground Cemetery in Clarkrange.  Pallbearers included John Neely, Sid LaRue, Jerry Clark, Wayne Harville, Jamie Phillips, Clint Gill, Caleb Phillips and Luke Harville.

ROBERT OLMSTEAD

Robert Olmstead, age 83 of the Banner Springs Community, passed away
Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Tennova Healthcare of Jamestown.

Mr. Olmstead is survived by wife, Lucille Olmstead; four sons, Thomas Olmstead and wife Melissa, Sidney Olmstead and wife Mary, Russell Olmstead and wife Jackie and Jackie Olmstead and wife Tammy; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Mr. Olmstead was preceded in death by parents, William and Rosetta Olmstead; three brothers, Hillard Olmstead, Kelly Olmstead and J.C. Olmstead; and two sisters, Mattie Patterson and Maxine Satterfield.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Cook officiating.  Burial followed in the Spring Chapel Cemetery.  Military services were conducted at the grave side by the American Legion Post 137.  Pallbearers included L.D. Taurfelli, Matt Olmstead, Caleb Olmstead, Rodney Cook, Ronald Clark and Jimmy Dale Cook.

THOMAS CLAYTON JOHNS

Thomas Clayton Johns, age 60, of Jamestown, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN.

Mr. Johns is survived by special caregiver, Tosha Meadows and husband Michael.

Mr. Johns was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.

Graveside services were held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Mount Olivette Cemetery in Nashville, TN with Bro. Keith Cameron officiating.
