Gary Mitchell Crabtree, age 62, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Crabtree was born March 9, 1950.

Mr. Crabtree is survived by wife, Brenda Kay Crabtree of Jamestown; two sons, Bobby Crabtree and Sonny Crabtree and wife Tonya both of Jamestown; four grandsons; two sisters, Margaret Brown and husband Leonard of Jamestown and Judy Manship and husband Mike of Indiana; three brothers, Orlen Crabtree and wife Cleta, Everett Crabtree and wife Delta both of Jamestown and Johnny Crabtree of Indiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Crabtree was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Uldean Robbins Crabtree; and infant granddaughter, Kayla Crabtree.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home with Bro. Leonard Brown and Bro. Martin Stephens officiating.  Burial followed in the Range Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Terry Reagan, Matt Beaty, Timothy Hamby, Brad Crabtree, David Crabtree, Anthony Cooper, Justin Parrigan, and Christopher Cooper.

Mundy Funeral Home of Jamestown, Tennessee was in charge of services.

Ruby Frogge, age 77, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Frogge was born January 5, 1936 in Cooktown, Tennessee.  She was a garmet factory worker.

Mrs. Frogge is survived by husband, W.S. Frogge of Jamestown; two sons, James Frogge of Livingston and Willie Frogge of Jamestown; two daughters, Penny Criscoe and Genetta Price both of Jamestown; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Allen Cravens of Twinton, TN, Ralph Cravens and wife Lana of Cravenstown, TN and Clovis Cravens and wife Anna of Daleville, IN; two sisters, Ethal Hill of Monroe, TN and Betty Abston and husband Georgie of Mayland, TN; sister-in-law, Nora Cravens of Alpine; special care givers, Sherry Wright and Ella Taylor; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Frogge was preceded in death by father, James B. Cravens; mother, Auda (Hill) Cravens; two brothers, Dayton Cravens and Billy Ray Cravens; sister, Effie Stover; sister-in-law, Lela Cravens; and two brothers-in-law, Kermit Hill and E.T. Stover.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Cravens officiating.  Burial followed in the Taylor Place Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Chris Taylor, Robert Price, Brandon Price, Casey Price, Darrell Evans and Greg Hill.

Rosalee (Buck) Jones, age 57, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Jones was born July 24, 1955 in Fentress County, Tennessee.  She was an Avon Sales Representative.

Mrs. Jones is survived by husband, Robert Jones of Jamestown; three sons, Rockford Garrett and wife Ashley, Abram Jones and wife Kim and Jacob Jones and wife Lori all of Jamestown; daughter, Jolene King and husband Mark of Jamestown; thirteen grandchildren; three brothers, David Buck and wife Brenda, Ernest Buck and wife Eva Mae both of Jamestown and Guy Buck and wife Lori of Galveston, TX; and sister, Austie Lowe of Jamestown.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by father, Everett Buck; mother, Cora Lou (Crisp) Buck; and son, Waylon Jolee Garrett.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Doran Nance and Bro. Clint Woodson officiating.  Burial followed in the Everett Buck Cemetery.  Pallbearers included Rockford Garrett, Abram Jones, Jacob Jones, Marcus King, Elijah King, Derek Buck, Gaylon Buck, Isaiah King and Roger Bertrum.

Carlene LaxtonCARLENE “COOKIE” BOWDEN LAXTON

Carlene “Cookie” Bowden Laxton, age 70, of Broken Bow, OK, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013.

Mrs. Laxton was born August 1, 1942 in Fentress County.

Mrs. Laxton is survived by two aunts, Ann Beaty and Justine Linder; two uncles, Virgil Jr. Bowden and Elroy Bowden and wife Madeline; and several cousins.

Mrs. Laxton was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Alta Sherrill Bowden; grandparents, Virgil and Alma Bowden;  two uncles Ovid Bowden and Bob Beaty; and aunt, Elaine Bowden Davis.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

 

Leo TinchLEO R. TINCH

Leo R. Tinch, age 81, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Tinch was born July 29, 1931 in Jamestown, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Truman and Lou Ella (Blair) Tinch.  A resident of the Mantua area the past 22 years, he formerly lived in Hudson. Mr. Tinch was a member of the Church of Christ in Windham, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1992 from Kilroy Structural Steel Company in Cleveland after 40 years of service as a shop superintendent.

A man who was very talented as a woodworker, he made much of his own furniture, as well as making furniture for family and friends which he gave to them. Mr. Tinch will always be remembered as a friendly man who would give anyone the shirt off of his back, never being angry and as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and true friend. On July 28, 1950, he married Lena (Bow) Tinch who preceded him in death on March 22, 2005.

Mr. Tinch is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Zepp of Mantua; granddaughter, Dr. Amy Masowick of Perrysburg, Ohio and his siblings, Ogle (Carrie Lee) Tinch and Paul (Hazel) Tinch both of Jamestown, Tennessee and Judy Flaugher of Centerville, Ohio.

Mr. Tinch was preceded in death by parents, Truman and Lou Ella (Blair) Tinch; wife, Lena (Bow) Tinch; siblings, Marcy Sells, Don Tinch, Ed Tinch and Ted Tinch.

No calling hours or services. Cremation has taken place and a private burial at a later date will be held in Tennessee.

Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, Ohio was in charge of services.

 

MARY B. STEPHENS

Mary B. Stephens, age 77, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Stephens was born April 19, 1935 in Jamestown, Tennessee.  She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by two sons, Darrell Stephens of Argos, IN and Ronnie Stephens of Greer, SC; two sisters, Edelene Price and Carol Sue Copley both of Jamestown; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by husband, Cosby H. Stephens; father, Willie B. Greer; mother, Montie Della (Allred) Greer; sister, Claudia Fowler; and brother, Tony Melvin Greer.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 11, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Cox officiating.  Burial followed in the Stephens Cemetery in Fentress County.  Pallbearers included Bobby Joe Stephens Jr., Abrel Abraham Stephens, Elijah Joe Stephens, Brandon Lee Dobson, Gary Lee Dobson and John Wayne Brooks.
