Monday, May 5 was a historic day as officials from the Fentress County Board of Education, City of Allardt, City of Jamestown, and Fentress County Government gathered at the Allardt Elementary School for a ceremonial note burning to signify that the construction note has been paid off.

Following the note burning, several local officials commented on the event, including Fentress County Executive Frank Smith, who said:  “When I first took office, the county’s bond rating was dropping, so we began looking at options for financing some of our debt, and was able to get some low-interest re-financing which has allowed us to pay off this note, which was originally not scheduled to be paid off until 2019.”
