Man Charged For Introducing Drugs Into Jail

A 33-year-old Jamestown man is in jail facing multiple drug-related charges after he was arrested last week.

According to reports from the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office, on July 14, officers went to a residence on Hemlock Drive to serve an arrest warrant for Mr. Mark Jennings of 401 Billy Ridge Road, Jamestown.  Upon making contact with Mr. Jennings, one of the officers asked for and received consent to search, and found a plastic snorting straw in his right front pocket.

Mr. Jennings was taken into custody and transported to the Fentress County Jail, and upon arriving at the jail, one of the officers observed a syringe lying in the back seat of the patrol car where Mr. Jennings had been sitting.

Once inside the jail, during the booking procedure, a correctional officer located a small cellophane bag containing a crystal like substance in Mr. Jennings’ right front pants pocket.  The substance tested positive as methamphetamine, after which Mr. Jennings was placed in jail on charges of Introduction or Possession of Drugs into a Penal Institution, Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
