Lady Buffaloes Sweep Harriman Tournament

The Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes swept the Harriman Christmas Tournament last week by posting three big wins over Midway, Sweetwater, and host Hariman to take the championship.

Clarkrange opened the tournament on Thursday with a 53-37 win over Midway in a game that saw Clarkrange fall behind in the first period, but came on strong through the rest of the contest to post the 16-point win.

Both teams came out with a solid first period, which saw Midway take a 15-13 lead.  Clarkrange came back in the second period to go on a 13-6 run to hold a 26-21 halftime advantage and never looked back, as they opened up a 10 point lead, 39-29 going into the fourth period, where they outscored Midway 14-8 to post the 16-point win.

Kassie and Kaylie Monday led Clarkrange with 14 and 12 points, respectively, while Chloe Howard added 9, Reece Stover and Makenzie Pile had 6 each, Gracie Bush 4, and Amber Peterson 2 points.

Midway was led by Caitlyn Ross with 14 points, with Rebecca LeMasters and Emily Cawood adding 7 each, Paige Bacon 5, Kaley Beason 3, and Megan Norman 1 point.

With the win, Clarkrange advanced to the semifinal round on Friday, which saw the Lady Buffaloes take an easy 62-28 win over Sweetwater to advance to the finals on Saturday.

Clarkrnge jumped out to a 25-10 first period lead as Kassie and Kaylie Monday led the charge with 8 points each, and continued to pull away in the second period to take a 40-16 halftime advantage.

They continued to extend their lead through the third period, outscoring Sweetwater 18-5, and then cruised through the final period to post the 34-point win.

Kassie Monday led the Lady Buffaloes and took game-high honors with 21 points, with Kaylie Monday adding 12, Gracie Bush 9, Chloe Howard 8, and Reece Stover, Makenzie Pile and Lexi Pierce adding 4 points each.

Madison Robinson led Sweetwater with 15 points, while Mikalee Martin added 5, and Abby Barr, Reagan Moree, Shea Wheeler and Emily Allen added 2 points each.
