Lady Buffaloes Post Victory; Buffaloes Lose to Livingston

The Clarkrange Buffaloes and Lady Buffaloes hosted the Livingston Wildcats and Lady Wildcats on Thursday, January 11 and took a split, with the Lady Buffaloes rolling to an 81-38 win over a Livingston team that was weakened by injuries and illness and was playing without three starters.

The Buffaloes, however, faced a Livingston team that was at full strength, and after battling to a 34-32 halftime score, saw the Wildcats pull away in the second half to post a 74-62 win.

In the girls’ game, Gracie Bush and Reece Stover baged two 3-pointers each in the first period as Clarkrange pulled out to an 18-12 lead going into the second period, which saw Kaylie Monday lead a 21-10 charge with  a dozen points, including two 3-pointers  and four free throws to pull out to a 39-22 halftime advantage.

The Lady Buffaloes continued to pull away in the third period, with Hannah Garrett, Gracie Bush and Kaylie Monday each hitting 3-pointers to take a 59-33 lead into the fourth period, where they saw Chloe Howard lead a 22-5 run with 9 points, with Makenzie Pile adding 6 points to give Clarkrange the big win.

Kaylie Monday led the Clarkrange scoring with 20 points, with Gracie Bush adding 15, including four 3-pointers; Hannah Garrett 11, Chloe Howard 9, Charity Crabtree and Reece Stover with 8 points each; MaKenzie Pile 6, and Kassie Monday 4 points.

Livingston was led by Leah Parker with 16 points, with Maddie Shaw adding 7, Emily Gean and Hailey Cronk with 5 points each, Kaylee Asberry with 3, and Carson Hammock 2 points.

In the boys’ game, Clarkrange came out hot, outscoring their visitors 17-16 in The first period, led by Sean Michalski’s 6 first period points and 5 by Nick Hall.

In the second period, Jacob Craig led the Wildcats to an 18-15 advantage to give Hogeye 34-32 lead at the half.

In the third period, Carter Hayes led a 20-15 run by the Wildcats to pull ahead 54-47 going into the final frame, when they again outscored Clarkrange 20-15 to post the 12-point victory, 74-62.

Jacob Craig led the Wildcats and was the game’s leading scorer ith 25 points, with Carter Hayes adding 18, Cody Ray 9, Matthew Sells 8, Wade Neely 7,  Blake Qualls 5, and Cole Smith 2 points.

Clarkrange was led by Austin Moody with 16 points, with Nick Hall adding 10, Sean Michalski, Briley Stephens, and Joshua Bilbrey with 9 each, Daderick Phillips with 6, and Nate Hall 3 points.
