J. Michael Cross Is Candidate For Office Of County Executive

J. Michael Cross has announced that he will be a candidate for the office of County Executive.  In issuing this announcement, Cross stated:  “I am proud to say that I am a native, and lifelong resident of Fentress County.  It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family, but we face difficult economic times and tough budgetary decisions.  I feel that I have the education, the leadership abilities and the experience necessary to fill the position of County Executive.  Further, I feel that I have the passion, the energy and the vision to serve the people of Fentress County.

I have devoted 30 years of my life serving our youth as a Teacher, Coach and Administrator.  I have served as President of the Tennessee Chess Association and have been Executive Director of the Fentress County Education and Community Enhancement Foundation for the past nine years.  With eight years experience as a County Commissioner, I understand our budget needs and limitations.

Some of my concerns include:  The need for a Primary Election or a Run-Off Election in Fentress County, Completion of the 127 Highway Project, Recruiting Jobs and Industry into our County, Expanding Tourism, Incorporating Technology into our County and our School System, and taking a Conservative approach to County Spending.  I will focus on  these and other issues in my Radio and Newspaper Ads.  Further, I will run a conservative campaign in regards to road signs and spending.  I want to focus my energy on personal contact and discussing the issues.

On a more personal note, Barbara and I have three daughters, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.  My family attends Clarkrange Baptist Church where we are active in its music ministry.  I have been a member of the “Southern Cross” gospel band for 25 years and have released three gospel CDs.  I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible, and humbly ask for your vote and support.
