Halloween on the Square Set Friday, October 31st

The Fourth Annual Halloween on the Square Celebration is scheduled for Friday, October 31st, beginning at 5:00 p.m. on the west side of the square in Jamestown   and the organizers are looking to have a lot of fun again this year.

The project is being coordinated annually by the Fentress County Finance Office and the City of Jamestown.

This year, the City of Jamestown is sponsoring a “Monstrous” new event — a Pumpkin Carving and Decorating Contest.

Pumpkin entries must be at the square between 4:30 and 5:15 p.m.  Registration will be on site.  Winners will be announced at 7 p.m.  There will be categories for ages 5-11, 12-17,  and 18+.

There will also be a “Spooktacular” Costume Contest, and a Pie Baking Contest for non-professional bakers.  Registration for both these events will also be on site. All costumes are welcomed.  It doesn’t make any difference if they are purchased or homemade.  However, this is a family event, so keep your costumes “G” rated.
