Gretta York Seeks County Clerk Office

Gretta York announced this week that she will be a candidate for the office of County Clerk of Fentress County in the August election and issued the following statement:

“My name is Gretta York and I would like to announce my candidacy for Fentress County Clerk in the 2018 General Election. I am a native of Fentress County and have lived here all my life. I am the daughter of Sue and Tommy Baldwin and the late Ted Tinch and the granddaughter of Gracie and the late Clayton Norris and the late Truman and Ella Tinch. I was raised in the Tinchtown area.

I now live in Banner Springs with my husband of 20 years, Bobby Gene York II. Bobby Gene and I have four children. B.J. York and wife Casey, Adam York and wife Taylor, all of Fentress County, Brooke Wilson and husband Brad of Knoxville, and our 13 year old daughter Chloe Gene, who we adopted from China in 2010. We also have three grandchildren, Millie, Jack, and Tinley. We attend Roanoke Methodist Church as well as Mt. Gilead.

My hobbies include being outside, riding horses, running, hiking, working, spending time with my many pets, being at home, and mostly being with friends and family. I have always said, I don’t distinguish between friends and family. They are all my family.

I am in my seventh year teaching at Allardt Elementary. I have taught first, second, sixth and for the past three years, fourth grade.

Over the past few months, my family and I have talked about and prayed about me seeking this job. I have enjoyed teaching school, and I love my kids. I am a people person and feel that this position will give me a chance to serve in a different capacity. I don’t feel like I am throwing my education away, but adding to it. I love to learn, and am eager to learn the job and serve our community. I want to help our community and its people in as many ways as possible.

When elected, I will run the office for the people of Fentress County. I will maintain an updated as well as an upgraded office in order to provide our community with the best possible service.   I will make sure the office is up to date on technology, policies and procedures. Service will be quick and efficient with a helpful and friendly staff.

Your vote and support will be greatly appreciated.”
