Mrs. Barton was born February 15, 1923 in Fentress Co., TN. She was a Library Director.

As a young woman Christene worked in Oak Ridge as part of the war effort during WWII. She served as Librarian of the Fentress Co. Public Library for 32 years. Her community service included being very actively involved in the Lions Club, Save Our Cumberland Mountains (SOCM), and was a charter member of the Fentress Co. Historical Society. Her hobbies included hiking, camping, fishing, gardening, traveling and square dancing. She loved gathering with family and friends, laughing and telling funny stories and keeping old traditions alive such as making sorghum molasses with her beloved cousins and making hominy the old-fashioned way with her friends. In her later years, she loved attending the Fentress Co. Senior Citizens Center where she enjoyed good fellowship, singing, laughing, games and being in the hand-bell choir. She took pride in staying active and living life to the fullest.
