July 24, 2017-  Clarise Hounshell, Director of Handfuls of the Harvest Mission on Gaudin Avenue, announced today that the Mission was starting a drive to raise funds to build and equip a Soup Kitchen next to the Mission.

Clarise stated, “There are many poor families right in our neighborhood and around the City of Jamestown and Fentress County who sometimes are unable to provide for the very basics of life.  With limited funds, it can sometimes prevent them from having good nourishing and wholesome meals.”  We have wanted to address this need for many years.  After much prayer and study, the Board of Directors of the Mission voted to build this facility next to the Mission.  Architect Robert Andrys has provided a design and a floor plan that will serve sixty or more people at a setting. The construction and equipping of the facility is estimated to cost around $140,000, and the Board has made this the goal of the campaign.
