Florida Man Arrested Here on Child Sexual Battery Charges

Arrest img342A former Charlotte County, Florida man was arrested in Fentress County on Monday, May 18 on a warrant charging him with sexual battery on a child.

According to a news release received from the Charlotte County, Florida Sheriff’s Office, major crimes detectives obtained a warrant on Friday, May 15 for Glen Edward “Pee Wee” St. John, 40, of 177 East Loomis Road in Jamestown, and traveled to Tennesee where they worked with Fentress County Sheriff’s Department detectives to affect the arrest.

Detectives began their investigation when the victim, who is now an adult, reported that St. John began assaulting her when she was a young child.  Based on the witness testimony and other additional evidence, detectives applied for and received the warrant. St John was charged with one count of Capital Sexual Batter on a Child under age 12, but additional felony charges are pending.

Fentress County Sheriff’s detectives took St. John into custody on Monday afternoon without incident, and he was placed in custody at the Fentress County Jail without bond.  On Tuesday, May 19, he appeared in General Sessions Court in Fentress County, and waived extradition back to Florida.  He will be transferred from Fentress County to Chalotte County once the appropriate transportation arrangements are made.
