Fentress County Man Killed Monday In Cumberland Accident

A 32-year-old Fentress County native sustained fatal injuries in a single-vehicle traffic accident in Cumberland County early Monday, December 30.

Details were sketchy at press time on Monday, but according to preliminary reports from the Tennessee Highway Patrol,  Jody A. Davis of Crossville, formerly of Fentress County, was traveling on Highway 70 in the Crab Orchard Community of Cumberland County and as he was leaving a curve struck a horse, causing him to lose control of his 1998 Buick, with the vehicle leaving the road, going over an embankment, overturning, and coming to rest on its top.

Mr. Davis apparently died instantly in the crash.

According to the preliminary report filed by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Mr. Davis was not wearing a seatbelt,  which in the investigating officer’s opinion would  have made a difference in this accident.

No drugs nor drinking was suspected.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremy Newcome was the primary investigator of the accident.
