Fentress Co. Schools Proudly Release 2014-15 Test Results

The Tennessee Department of Education recently released school system test results and Fentress County is proud to share how we did for the 2014-15 school year.

School districts are held accountable in two areas – achievement and student growth.  Achievement is based on eleven Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs).  Fentress County Schools met 8 of 11 AMOs.

3-8 Math had a  13.6% increase in proficiency which was the highest gain in the state.  Algebra I had a 19.6% increase in proficiency, the 5th highest gain in the state.  Chemistry had a 50.1% increase, the highest in the state.  Biology had 100% proficiency, the highest in the state.

Student growth is calculated using the Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS).  Districts and schools are designated Level 1-5 with 5 being the highest.  Fentress County is proud to announce that it is a Level  5 System for the 2014-15 school year.  Clarkrange High School and Pine Haven Elementary are Level  5 schools.

Director of Schools Mike Jones stated, “I am so proud of our students, teachers, staff, and administrators. The highest growth in Biology, Chemistry, and 3-8 Math in the state of Tennessee!  CHS also had the fifth highest growth in the state in Algebra I.  CHS Chemistry scores were the 18th highest scores of all high schools in the state.  What a great year!
