Fentress Co. School System Receives Exemplary” Performance Rating By Tennessee Department of Education

Director of Schools Mike Jones announced on Monday that he had received notifica-tion on Friday, October 20 that the Fentress Co. School System has received the status of “Exemplary” in the annual accountability determinations by the State of Tennessee Department of Education.

The department provides annual accountability determinations to districts that reflect performance and growth, and that the final accountability determination for Fentress County showed achievement of Exemplary Status in the areas of Achievement Status, Subgroup Status, and Final Determination.

The department also annually identifies Reward schools  and Priority and Focus schools that are making progress toward exiting Priority and Focus status.

In the October meeting of the Fentress County Board of Education earlier this month, it was announced that the system was recognized as a Level 5 System overall by the TVAAS (Tennessee Value Added Assessment System.)

Overall Level 5 status was awarded to only 10 schools systems out of 141 systems in the State of Tennessee.

Local schools that achieved Level 5 Status in Fentress County included Clarkrange High School, Allardt Elementary School and Pine Haven Elementary School.

This was the third straight year that Clarkrange High School has achieved Level 5 status.

In the announcement last week by the State Department of Education, the Allardt Elementary and Pine Haven Elementary Schools both received “Reward Progress” status.

Schools earn Reward Progress status if their one-year TVAAS school composite places them in the top five percent of schools in the same pool, excluding schools with subgroup gaps in the top 25 percent of one or more subgroups.
