Early Voting Light For Presidential Preference Primary

Early voting for the March 1 Presidential Preference Primary began on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, and for the first five days was rather light, with only 314 voters casting ballots through Monday February 15.

Voting picked up the last week, with 318 voting on Monday, bringing the total through the first 11 days of 1,245, with Tuesday being the final day for early voting.

The total through Monday represents about 11% of the total number of registered voters in Fentress County.

A complete sample ballot of the Democrat and Republican Presidential candidates, along with a list of committed and uncommitted delegates,and other pertinent information is printed on page B-7 of this issue.

Election day is Tuesday, March 1 in all the voting precincts in Fentress County.  Polls open at 8:00 a.m. and will remain open until 7:00 p.m.

Inspection of Election Day Voting Machines will be Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.  This will be held at the Fentress County Election Commission Office at 111 North Norris Street, Jamestown, TN. 38556.

The Absentee Counting Board will begin counting Absentee Ballots at 4:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Fentress County Election Commission Office.

T.C.A. 2-7-11:  There will be NO campaign posters, signs, hats, T-shirts, buttons, or other literature displayed on any building or person within 100 feet of any polling place.

*NOTE: A federal and Tennessee State Government issued photo ID is now required to vote (Unless exception applies).
