Early Voting for August Election “Rather Light”

Early voting for the Thursday, August 4, 2016 General Election began on Friday, July 15 and continues through Saturday, July 30 at the Fentress County Election Commission Office, located at 111 North Norris Street, Jamestown, TN 38556.

From Friday, July 15, the first day of early voting, through Monday, July 18, a total of 980 voters had cast ballots by the early method.

This year’s voting is rather light compared to two years ago, during the “big” election when most of the major offices were filled, when, during the same first 9-day period, over 2,400 had cast votes by the early method.

Early voting hours are: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.,  and from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturday.

Voters who vote in person during early voting or on Election Day must present a photo ID issued by the federal or Tennessee state government.  These IDs may be current or expired.

Examples are:

•Tennessee driver license with your photo.

•Tennessee Department of Safety photo ID.

•Tennessee gun carry permit with your photo.

•United States Military photo ID.

•United States Passport; or any other photo ID issued by the federal or Tennessee state government.  College IDs and photo IDs issued by cities, counties and other states will not be accepted.
