Dragons Crush Grundy County 48-14

The York Football Dragons picked up their second win of the 2019 season, and, more importantly, a big Region 4-3-A win as they traveled to Coalmont last week and soundly defeated the Grundy County Yellow Jackets 48-14.

Behind a potent rushing attack that rolled up over 300 yards, the Dragons jumped out to a 14-0 first period lead, and extended tht lead to 35-0 at the half as they cruised to the 34-point victory.

Led by Thoms Miller, who rolled up 131 yards on 13 carries and 2 touchdowns, the Dragons scored quickly to take an early 7-0 advantage as Miller broke loose for a 43-yard touchdown on York’s first possesion of the game  to give York their first lead, with Zack Gibson adding another score with  just under 3 minutes left in the opening period when he took it in from 44 yards out to give York a 14-0 advantage.

Johann West booted the conversion on both the first quarter touchdowns, and was successful on five of six extra point attempts.

The game started with the Dragons kicking off, with the York defense holding the Yellow Jackets to minus 3 yards on their first possession and forcing a fumble, which they took at the Grundy 48 yard line.

It took only two plays for the Dragons to get on the scoreboard, as Dalton Barger rushed for 5 yards on their first play, and then Thomas Miller broke loose for a 23-yard scamper for York’s first touchdown with less than 3 minutes gone in the opening period, and Johann West booted his first of five point after attempts to put the Dragons on top 7-0.
