Dr. Mathew Ninan Opens Chest Clinic in Jamestown

Dr. Mathew Ninan of the Nashville Lung and Esophageal Center, a pioneer in the field of thoracic surgery, has recently opened a chest clinic in Jamestown.  Dr. Ninan has been practicing in Tennessee for over 15 years and is now looking forward to bringing his specialized services to the residents of Fentress County:

“I chose this field of lung and thoracic surgery because I was fortunate enough to train under two pioneers in this field. This was very exciting at that time, because of the advent of keyhole surgery. I have started a ‘Chest Clinic’ in Jamestown which will serve people with lung,  Esophageal and other chest problems.

My main office is in Nashville at St. Thomas Hospital. I will see patients every other week in Jamestown, hopefully every week in the future.

I chose Fentress County as it is relatively under-served for specialist doctors, and I wish for patients to avoid long trips to larger cities for those who need specialist doctor appointments.

I have built great relationships with all the doctors in the region, as well as the hospital.  I am an experienced surgeon, and have done over ten thousand major operations. I do a lot of robotic surgery, which helps people recover faster with less pain.”

To say Ninan’s resume is impressive would be an understatement. He has previously held Fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and at Leeds University in the U.K. He specializes in bronchoscopic and minimally- invasive management of lung nodules, as well as minimally-invasive lung cancer surgery and management of complex esophageal disorders.
