County Commission Holds Interviews For Candidates To Fill Unexpired Term of Sheriff

The Fentress County Com-mission held a special called session on Thursday, June 22 to interview candidates to fill the unexpired term of Sheriff of Fentress County.

The candidates included James Allen Conatser, Rodney B. Insco, Interim Sheriff Gary Ledbetter, Michael Reagon, and Tommy Lee Rosecrants.

Following the session, during which the candidates were asked a series of questions selected by the Commission, Fentress Co. Executive J. Michael Cross spoke to members of the local news media, stating:

“It was a great meeting.  We have five really good and qualified applicants that were all POST certified to be able to take over the mid-term sheriff appointment.  We had a good crowd in the audience.

The commissioners had put together what I think was an excellent number of questions that were asked of all the candidates.  I thought everything went real well.”

“Again, this is a lengthy and drawn-out process that we’ve been through,” Executive Cross continued.  “We wanted to be sure that we followed Tennessee Code Annotated and all its statutes and all the laws that are already in place and also relied heavily on County Technical Advisory Services (CTAS), their advisors and their attorneys, and the legal department from local government.”
