Clarkrange Takes Two from Macon Co. in Basketball Season Opener Nov. 13

The Clarkrange Lady Buffaloes and Buffaloes opened their 2018-19 Basketball season on winning notes, taking impressive wins over two very good Class 2-A teams from Macon County.

The season opener, a Hall of Fame game, saw the Lady Buffaloes take a big lead early, only to see the Lady Tigers come back with a late rally to tie the game in the final minute, with the contest going down to the wire, with Kaylie Monday’s 3-pointer at the buzzer giving Clarkrange the 59-56 win.

The game opened with the Lady Buffaloes taking a 17-10 advantage behind an 11-point effort by Reece Stover.

Clarkrange continued to pull away in the second period, led by Chloe Howard’s 7 points, to take a 37-25 lead at the half.

Macon County made a 24-17 run in the third period, behind a 10-point effort by Keely Carter, and three 3-pointers by Jalynn Gregory, to pull to within 5 points at 54-49 going into the final period.

Both teams stepped up their defense in the fourth period and both went cold shooting, although Macon County managed to chip away at the Lady Buffalo lead, and tied the game at 56-56 with only seconds to play on two  free throws by Jalynn Gregory.
