Clarkrange Opens Season With Big Wins Over Oliver Springs

The Clarkrange Buffaloes and Lady Buffaloes opened the 2015-16 season on Tuesday, November 17 as they traveled to Oliver Springs for a Hall of Fame play day and came away with impressive wins in both games.

Behind a 9-point first period effort by sophomore post Hannah Garrett, the Lady Buffaloes raced out to a 16-9 advantage and never looked back, pulling out to a 30-14 halftime advantage at the half.

The second half was closer, as the Clarkrange team cooled down a bit, but still outscored their hosts 15-13 to post the 45-27 win.

Garrett was the game’s leading scorerr with 21 points, including two 3-pointers, while freshman Gracie Bush adding 9 points, Breanna Bush with 6 points, Katelin Beaty with 4, Emily Gray with 3, and Isabella Henline adding 2 points.

Mai-Claire Crass led Oliver Springs with 7 points.

In the boys’ game, the Buffaloes also dominated the contest, as they pulled out to a 20-10 first period lead behind a 9-point effort by Ryan Miller.

Hunter Crouch came alive in the second period, pumping in 12 of his game-high 22 points to lead a 26-point explosion which propelled the Buffaloes to a 46-23 halftime advantage.

Clarkrange continued to pull away in the third period, outscoring their hosts 20-16, and then cruised through the final frame to post the 24-point win, 77-53.

In addition to Crouch’s 22 points, Ryan Miller added 17, Emory Lane 10, Coleman Linkous and Cobe Hayes with 9 point each, Austin Monday 5 points, Chase Fowler 2 points, and Briley Stephens,  Nick Hall, and Brandon Daugherty each adding one point.

Taylor Murray led Oliver Springs with 21 points, the only player in double figures.
