The Jamestown Rotary Club Christmas Parade, held Saturday, December 2,  was described as one of the best ever, with over 100 entries, including a number of excellent float entries.

Following the event, Rotary Club President Ryan Yantz commented: “The Rotary Club is again extremely pleased with the turnout and thankful for the perfect weather — for everyone who participated in the parade — all the folks who came out and watched it, and for everyone who had any part in making it successful again,”    The York and Clarkrange Interact Clubs had put together hundreds of bags of candy, and we gave it all away.  Special thanks to everyone who  had an entry, paticularly to those who entered the floats.  There were some of the best entries ever this year.  Thanks again to everyone involved.”

In the non-commercial Church division, the winner, which also took the Roy Davis Smith Memorial Award for the best overall float, was Clarkrange Baptist Church,  who had a particularly beautiful entry. This was the sixth year in a row that this church has taken the top place in the parade. Second place went to Cross Tie Church and third place to Mr. Carmel Church.

In the non-commercial, other than church division, first place went to the Fentress Co. Girl Scouts, second place went to the Hope Foundation, and third place to the Fentress County Children’s Center.

In the commercial division, first place recognition went to Mountain Barn Builders, second to Progressive Savings Bank, and third to Joel & Susan Ross.

The Rotary Club will now concentrate on the upcoming Christmas Shopping Spree which will be held on Saturday, December 16.
