Fentress County Executive J. Michael Cross is joined by Chamber of Commerce representatives to welcome LanPack Packaging and Fulfillment Center to Clarkrange.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Wednesday, September 28 in Clarkrange to welcome Fentress County’s newest industry — Lan Mills  Packaging and Fulfillment Center, which has located in the former Robinson Manufacturing facility on Highway 127.

When asked to explain what his company does, Chris Landers commented:  “Our operation is tied with some related packaging businesses that we do with a customer in East Tennessee, but the end result is that it goes out to the retail market such as Walmart, Dollar Stores, etc.

“What we have here is about 40 people sorting and packaging books, that go out into the retail market.”

When asked why he chose Clarkrange to locate, Mr. Landers said:  “I’ve been doing busines with these people for about 6 years noW, and in doing that, we have these opportunities of ‘spotty-type’ work.  We’ve done it in Crossville, and we’ve done it in Monterey and other places, but we’ve struggled to find enough people to make this thing happen, so when this opportunity came about and we found this business in ClarkrangE closing, and knowing that there were several employees that worked at Robinson, we came and were able to get several of those people back.  Basically, we brought the business to Clarkrange, and we’re now about 80-85% Clarkrange employees, and we want to keep it that way.  Our first effort is to pull from Clarkrange, and it’s working out very well for us and we’re happy to be here.”

Fentress County Executive J. Michael Cross also expressed his appreciation to Mr. Landers for locating in Clarkrange, stating:  “We’re absolutely tickled to death for Chris to come here.  The impact this is going to have on the county as a whole and particularly the Clarkrange area is going to be tremendous.
