Candidates Qualify for Municipal Elections

Monday, June 22, 2020 was the first day for candidates interested in running in the City of Jamestown and City of Allardt Municipal Elections, both to be held this November, to qualify, and as of 4 p.m. on Monday, three (3) candidates had qualified.

In the City of Jamestown Election, all five City Alderman seats are up for grabs this year, as is the office of Mayor. 

In Allardt, three Alderman seats are up for election this fall.

Of the three candidates qualifying as of Monday, June 22, one had qualified for Mayor of Jamestown, one for Jamestown Alderman, and one for Allardt Alderman.

Current Jamestown Mayor Lyndon Baines has qualified to seek election to his post for a further four years. Also in the Jamestown Municipal Election, long-serving City Alderman Charles Cooper has qualified to retain his seat on the Council.

In the Allardt Municipal Election, current Alderman Michael Wiley has qualified to seek election in November.

The last day for candidates to qualify for both of these elections will be August 20, 2020.
