Buffaloes Sweep Livingston And Oakdale on Hall of Fame Play Day

The Clarkrange Buffaloes swept both their Hall of Fame Play Day games on Saturday, November 21, taking solid wins over Oakdale and Livingston Academy.

The Buffaloes opened the day going against Oakdale, and after the teams battled back and forth through the first period, Oakdale held a one-point lead 15-14.

Hunter Crouch caught fire in the second period, scoring 16 points, including four straight 3-pointers, to propel the Buffaloes to a 41-24 lead, and they never looked back at that point, pulling out to a 20-point lead going into the final period, 56-36.

Oakdale made a strong comeback effort in the fourth period to cut the margin to 10, but that was as close as they would come with the Buffaloes taking the win 74-64.

Hunter Crouch led all scorers with 27 points, with Coleman Linkous adding 15, Ryan Miller 12, Emory Lane and Austin Monday with 6 each, Chase Fowler 3 points, and Cobe Hayes and Briley Stephens with 2 points each.

Maverick Smith paced Oakdale with 17 points, with Tyler Steinmetz adding 15 and Jackson Hicks 10, with Colyer Hicks adding 9, Austin Lowe and Corbin King 4 each, and Nathan Arrowood with 2 points.

In the evening game, the Buffaloes faced a strong Class AA Livingston Academy team in a game that was close all the way.

Clarkrange held a 1-point advantage after the first period, 13-12, and led by 2 at the half, 28-26.

With balanced scoring in the third period with five players getting into the scoring column, the Buffaloes edged ahead by four points going into the final frame, 45-41, and held off a late run by the Wildcats, led by Carter Hayes’ 10 points in the period to take the 5-point win, 61-56.

Hunter Crouch paced the Buffaloes with 16 points, Coleman Linkous adding 15,  Austin Monday 11, Ryan Miller 10, Cobe Hayes 4, Chase Fowler 3, and Emory Lane 2 points.

Carter Hayes led the Wildcats with 23 points, with Xander Miller adding 18, with Dylan Linder and Ray Burchwell  getting 5 each, Cole Smith 3, and Wade Neely 2 points.

This week, Clarkrange will begin their regular season schedule, with three straight home games, and will be facing some of their strongest opponents early, as they host 3-A powerhouse Stone Memorial on Tuesday night, November 24, with White County coming to the Buffalo Den on Saturday, November 28.  They will then host Livingston on Tuesday, December 1 before going on the road to Cumberland County on Saturday, December 5.
