3 Arrests Made For Sale and Possession of Drugs

ArrestThree persons were arrested during the past week, including two which had been indicted on April 17 during an undercover drug investigation by the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday, June 17, shortly after 9:38 p.m. Sheriff Tony Choate was on patrol in the Stockton Community when he observed a vehicle which matched the description of a vehicle belonging to Mr. Darrell Whittenburg, who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Sheriff Choate stopped the vehicle, and took Denver Darrell Whittenburg, 59, of 5064 Round Mountain Road, Jamestown, into custody, and called for a tow vehicle.  Upon making inventory of the vehicle for tow, officers discovered a glass smoking pipe in the front console, and deployed the drug dog “Chum Lee” to search the vehicle, which resulted in a pill bottle containing a cellophane bag with a crystal type of substance in it, which was beliEved to be crystal methamphetamine, under the front side passenger seat.

Mr. Whittenburg was then transported to the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office for booking, where he told the officers that he had some Oxycodone pills, which were recovered from a silver pill vial from the sock on his left foot.  He was subsequently booked on charges of Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, with total bail set at $85,000.
