Through the continued generosity and love of the people of the Fentress County and surrounding area, this year’s Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Collection was another overwhelming success, with a total of 14,550 boxes filled.  On Sunday evening, following a special service at the First Baptist Church, volunteers from several area churches and organizations united to pack the shoe boxes into larger boxes, before they were loaded onto trucks for shipping to regional collection centers for final shipping to the various countries of need.  The project is coordinated by Dr. Chris and Paula Sewell, who gave all the credit for the success of the project to wonderful people of the area, stating:  “We are again overwhelmed by the response this year.” Paula Sewell commented:  “Our original goal was 13,000, and I had set a prayer goal of 14,000 and we ended up with 14,550. We are truly blessed.  We couldn’t have done this without the many volunteers who step up each year to help carry the message of Jesus  through this shoebox ministry. Shown above are some of the volunteers getting ready to pack the boxes Sunday evening. Special thanks to everyone who took part to change the lives of children throughout the world.  Check out more pictures on www.fentresscouriernews.com.
